💻 Software for Approximation 2027 (SA2027) is coming to Turin!

The workshop "Software for Approximation: From Approximation Theory to Machine Learning and Industrial Innovation" brings together researchers, software developers, and industrial partners to explore numerical algorithms, high-performance computing, and scientific machine learning.

🌟 Highlights include:

• Focus on reproducible scientific software, kernel methods, and data-driven models. • Keynote lecture by Prof. Elisa Francomano on the CNR-UMI report "The economic impact of mathematical research in Italy", followed by a round table on the strategic role of mathematics.

The workshop Uncertainty Quantification and Data Assimilation in Fluid Dynamics brings together applied mathematicians, computational scientists and engineers to discuss the integration of Data Assimilation (DA) and Uncertainty Quantification (UQ) for Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and complex industrial flows.

🔬 Topics include advances in DA and UQ for CFD, industrial applications in aerospace, automotive, energy and environmental engineering, data-driven and reduced-order modelling, experimental design and sensor placement, and software tools for technology transfer.

🤝 The workshop aims to foster collaboration between academia and industry and explore how DA and UQ can improve the accuracy, reliability and efficiency of engineering simulations.

🎤 Short talks of 20–30 minutes are welcome.

📢 Premio Archimede per la Matematica Applicata – 2026 Edition

Applications are open for the 2026 Premio Archimede per la Matematica Applicata alla Scienza, all’Industria e alla Società, promoted by AIRO, AMASES, INdAM, SIMAI and UMI.

🏆 Three main awards of €3,000 gross each will be presented in the following categories: Applied Mathematics for Science, Applied Mathematics for Industry, and Applied Mathematics for Society.

🌍 A €1,500 gross thematic medal will also be awarded for “Mathematical Methods for Climate Dynamics and Climate Change”.

Candidates must have held, for at least one year, a postdoctoral, researcher or professor position at an Italian university or research institution, and must have obtained a PhD relevant to the Prize topics on or after 1 January 2015, subject to the extensions specified in the call.

📅 Application deadline: 31 October 2026

🎓 The award ceremony will take place on 27–29 January 2027, during a scientific conference on Applied Mathematics at Sapienza University of Rome.
