KNIGHTS OF RIZAL ITALY WELCOMES TWO NEWEST CHAPTERS DURING THE CHARTERING CEREMONY

MILAN, ITALY — The Knights of Rizal Italy achieved another milestone during its Chartering Ceremony, officially recognizing two of its newest chapters in the Tuscany Region, further strengthening the organization’s presence and outreach in Italy.

The ceremony highlighted the formal establishment of the Giuseppe Garibaldi Chapter and Marzocco Chapter, signifying the continued growth of the Order and its dedication to expanding the teachings and ideals of Dr. Jose Rizal among Filipino communities abroad. The event was held at the Consulate General of the Philippines in Milan. The ceremony was graced by Honorable Consul General Jim Tito San Agustin as Guest of Honor, underscoring the significance of the occasion and the continued support for initiatives that promote the ideals and legacy of Dr. Jose Rizal among Filipinos in Europe.

The event was officiated by distinguished Knights headed by Europe Regional Commander, Sir Juanito Villa, KGOR; together with the Chairman of Council of Elders in Europe Region, Sir Felino Paras, KGCR, PPA; the Area Commander in Italy, Sir Carlos Mercado Simbillo, KGOR and his Deputy Area Commander Sir Augusto Cruz, KCR who led the ceremonies and emphasized the importance of unity, leadership, and service.

The event also gathered officials and members from across Italy, including representatives from Northern, Southern, Central Italy, and the Tuscan Region, demonstrating the organization’s strong regional cooperation and shared commitment to Rizalian principles.

The addition of the two chapters marks another chapter in the continued expansion of the Order in Europe and represents a significant step toward strengthening the organization’s influence in promoting patriotism and cultural heritage among Filipinos overseas.

The ceremony marked an important milestone for the organization as new chapters were formally established and new members were welcomed into the Order. During the Investiture Ceremony, members of the La Solidaridad Chapter and Dimasalang Monte Bianco formally took part in rites symbolizing their dedication to the values of patriotism, integrity, and service inspired by Dr. Jose Rizal.

A highlight of the event was the Exaltation Ceremony led by Honorable Consul General Jim Tito San Agustin of the Philippine Consulate General in Milan. KNIGHTS OF RIZAL ITALY EXPRESSES STRONG SUPPORT FOR OUR COUNTRY’S POSITION ON WEST PHILIPPINE SEA IN ROME EVENT

Rome, Italy - In a firm demonstration of unity and patriotism, members of the Knights of Rizal Italy joined the Philippine Embassy in Rome in expressing support for the Philippines’ position on the West Philippine Sea during the launch of the book The Economic Impact of the South China Sea Disputes, held at the historic Palazzo Madama, seat of the Italian Senate.

The event was led by Philippine Ambassador to Italy Neal Imperial, who underscored the far-reaching economic and geopolitical implications of the West Philippine sea disputes as the Philippines marks the 10th anniversary of the landmark 2016 Arbitral Award on the South China Sea. The ruling reaffirmed the country’s sovereign rights within its Exclusive Economic Zone in accordance with United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

Responding to the invitation of the Philippine Embassy, the Knights of Rizal Italy, under the leadership of Carlos M. Simbillo, demonstrated unwavering support for the Philippine government’s firm and principled stance grounded in international law. Sir Simbillo, KGOR, Area Commander for Italy and the Europe Region, emphasized the importance of unity among Filipinos abroad in defending national sovereignty and promoting a rules-based international order.

ROME, ITALY — Filipino storytelling takes a significant step onto the European stage as the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Rome announces the country’s participation in the 23rd Asian Film Festival, scheduled from April 7 to 15, 2026.

A highlight of the festival is the dedicated Filipino Day on April 8 at Cinema Farnese, where a curated lineup of contemporary Filipino films will be screened, offering European audiences a deeper look into the Philippines’ evolving cinematic voice.

The featured films are Republika ng Pipolipinas, Raging, Magellan, and Moonglow. The span genres from political drama to historical epics and psychological narratives. Together, they reflect the diversity, depth, and creative boldness of Filipino filmmakers, whose works continue to gain recognition beyond Southeast Asia.

For the Filipino community in Italy, the event serves not only as entertainment but as a cultural bridge. It is an opportunity to strengthen identity while introducing Philippine narratives to a broader international audience.

As a tourism graduate and former tour guide, I have seen firsthand how cultural exposure shapes perception. We celebrate a meaningful milestone for our brothers in Italy as the Knights of Rizal – La Solidaridad Chapter in Milan marks the First Anniversary of its founding.

Named after the historic reformist movement La Solidaridad, which championed the cause of the Filipino people during the Spanish colonial period, the chapter continues to embody the ideals of our national hero, Dr. José Rizal—promoting unity, patriotism, and service within the Filipino community in Northern Italy.

Over the past year, the chapter has demonstrated dedication to the mission of the Order by strengthening fraternity among its members and supporting initiatives that uplift the Filipino community. Through their commitment to the values of Rizal, they continue to inspire cooperation, leadership, and solidarity among Filipinos abroad.

On this special occasion, I also extend my warmest congratulations to Chapter Commander Sir Mario Santiago Santos on his appointment as Deputy Area Commander for Northern Italy. This well-deserved recognition reflects his leadership, dedication, and commitment to advancing the mission and principles of the Knights of Rizal in the region.

May the La Solidaridad Chapter continue to grow in strength and purpose, guided by the enduring legacy of Dr. José Rizal and the spirit of brotherhood that unites us all.
