For this collaboration with Pneuma presents two works that inhabit the inner tensions at the heart of Dreams & Dualities: moments where desire, restraint, and self-knowledge are held in delicate balance.
Jana Büttner’s .art Missing Pieces depicts a figure turned inward, engaged in a fragile act of recognition. The broken mirror she holds does not offer reflection, but acknowledgment, of absence, vulnerability, and the careful approach required when confronting what is missing. Like Antonia, her stillness is not passive, but protective.
In La Bottega del Caffè, Luca di Castri transforms a familiar Florentine scene into a theatrical veil. Reality becomes performance; appearances conceal intention. The work echoes the operas’ world of masks, overheard desires, and social roles endlessly rehearsed.
Between these works runs a shared understanding: that what shapes us most often unfolds quietly: in hesitation, in restraint, and in the courage to face what cannot be resolved.
