A beautiful closing concert of the Florence Choral Course 🕊️

The week concluded at the Oratorio di San Filippo Neri with Ecce Beatam Lucem, featuring Striggio’s monumental 40-part motet at its centre, alongside a programme of Italian Renaissance choral works.

Young singers and instrumentalists from around the world came together after an intensive week of study, rehearsal, and performance in Florence.

Now in its 5th anniversary year, the Florence Choral Course is the only course in the world dedicated entirely to the study and performance of Italian Renaissance choral music, run by Vox Medicea in association with ECSE ✨

Thank you to all the performers and audience members who made the final concert such a memorable occasion!

What does it mean to conduct a choir in the Pazzi Chapel?

It means engaging with a space where architecture, history, and music have been in dialogue for centuries.

We spoke with Mark Spyropoulos, founder and Music Director of Vox Medicea and the Florence Choral Course, following the concert in which the students performed in one of the masterpieces of the Florentine Renaissance.

The Florence Choral Course is organized by Vox Medicea in collaboration with The English Cornett & Sackbut Ensemble - ECSE and supported by New Generation Foundation.

The programme is designed to train the next generation of choral singers while exploring and bringing to life the rich choral heritage of the Renaissance.

Gli studenti del Florence Choral Course hanno riempito di musica la magnifica Ca****la dei Pazzi in Santa Croce, cantando in uno degli spazi rinascimentali più straordinari di Firenze.

Il Florence Choral Course è una delle iniziative educative di Vox Medicea, sostenuta dalla The New Generation Foundation per formare la prossima generazione di coristi, esplorando e facendo rivivere il ricco patrimonio corale del Rinascimento.

Così, musica e architettura si sono incontrate ancora una volta in questo luogo unico, grazie a Vox Medicea e all’Opera di Santa Croce.

✨ The Sound of the Pazzi Chapel ✨

The students of the Florence Choral Course filled the magnificent Pazzi Chapel at Santa Croce with music, singing in one of Florence’s most extraordinary Renaissance spaces.

The Florence Choral Course is one of Vox Medicea’s educational initiatives, supported by The New Generation Foundation, to train the next generation of choristers while exploring and bringing to life the rich choral heritage of the Renaissance.

Once again, music and architecture came together in this unique setting, thanks to Vox Medicea and the Opera di Santa Croce.

Join us in the heart of Florence on Saturday, 11 July for an evening celebrating the sounds of the Italian Renaissance 🌞

At 7:00 pm, Ecce Beatam Lucem, the final concert of the Florence Choral Course, will take place at the Oratorio di San Filippo Neri in Piazza San Firenze. The Florence Choral Course is the annual summer programme run by Vox Medicea in collaboration with English Cornett & Sackbut Ensemble - ECSE.

The programme features Alessandro Striggio’s monumental 40-part motet Ecce Beatam Lucem—one of the great masterpieces of the Italian Renaissance—alongside a selection of Renaissance choral works performed by participants of the course.

Bringing together young singers and instrumentalists from around the world, the concert celebrates the culmination of a week dedicated to Renaissance repertoire and historically informed performance.

Free admission, subject to venue capacity.
