La Compagnia è un gruppo di rievocazione storica di Ferrara affiliata al C.E.R.S. Il periodo rievocato è il tardo XIV secolo (1380-1410) e le diverse attività proposte spaziano dall’ambiente militare a quello civile.
È in grado di riprodurre un campo militare del Basso Medioevo, composto da tende storiche finemente arredate, di mostrare le gerarchie e le differenze dett
ate dal ceto sociale, di riproporre l’addestramento degli uomini d’arme in armatura e di ricostruire le attività dei civili al seguito della compagnia d’arme. Oltre all’aspetto militare inserito nel contesto del campo d’arme, l’associazione propone didattiche mirate e indipendenti: tra queste la storia degli armamenti e delle armature del medioevo, alcuni mestieri come la cucina e la sartoria, percorsi storici come “il viaggio nel medioevo”, la figura del pellegrino e la storia e lo studio delle armi araldiche. Il tutto realizzato nel pieno rispetto storico delle fonti archeologiche (reperti, testi ed iconografie).

- Percorsi didattici per adulti e bambini;
- Documentari storici, Fiction, Produzioni televisive e cinematografiche.

PERSONAGGI STORICI
Tutti i membri della Compagnia ricostruiscono personaggi storici e uomini d’arme realmente esistiti tra il XIV e il XV secolo, di cui esistono attendibili fonti bibliografiche. Uno studio particolare è stato riservato al “casato” d’Este e alle figure nobiliari affiliate agli Estensi.

PERCORSI DIDATTICI
La Compagnia d’Arme del Santo Luca propone percorsi didattici rivolti ad adulti e bambini, con possibilità di organizzare incontri ed eventi dedicati a uno o più argomenti. Le nostre didattiche possono essere inserite all’interno di qualsiasi evento oppure organizzate singolarmente. La nostra associazione possiede anche uno “stand” adibito ad esposizioni di qualsivoglia attività. Le offerte didattiche che la nostra associazione propone sono le seguenti:
- Armi e Armature: un percorso attraverso l’evoluzione del mondo militare medioevale, arricchito dalla presenza di fedeli ricostruzioni storiche di armi e armature.
- Cucina e banchetto: un viaggio attraverso l’alimentazione del Basso Medioevo. I cibi, i piatti, il galateo e la possibilità di ricostruire un banchetto storico permettono un’immersione completa nei sapori e nelle tradizioni del passato.
- Sartoria: una delle arti più antiche, viene riproposta secondo lo studio accurato di reperti e documenti. Dalla stoffa alla cucitura, dagli utensili al ricamo, la Compagnia affronta un percorso completo, corredato da dimostrazioni pratiche ed esempi da tangibili.
- Viaggio e pellegrinaggio: un percorso che vuole raccontare un mondo impervio e allo stesso tempo molto ben strutturato, spiegando gli ideali, i preconcetti, i luoghi e gli spostamenti dell’uomo medievale. La figura predominante, quella del pellegrino, viene analizzata nel dettaglio, con la possibilità di vedere e toccare con mano gli oggetti che ogni viaggiatore portava con se.
- Araldica: dallo studio della simbologia e dei significati, il viaggio nel mondo delle armi araldiche racconta e spiega la storia, l’interpretazione dei simboli e i significati nascosti dietro alle casate nobiliari.

SCUOLA D'ARME
Altro aspetto importante per la Compagnia è la scherma storica. Il gruppo in arme si allena settimanalmente per studiare i trattati di scherma più rilevanti per il periodo ricostruito, dedicandosi all'analisi e alla pratica delle tecniche di combattimento con differenti tipologie di armi.

The Compagnia d'Arme del Santo Luca is a living history group active in Ferrara and affiliated to C.E.R.S. Our target is the reenactment of the life during the late XIV century (1380-1410). Our core activities have a wide range, starting from the military field to the everyday life. We can reproduce a late medieval military camp in all its glory, including the furnishing and the interior decoration of the tents, the hierarchies and different social classes, the training of troupes, and the daily life activities of the men and women living inside the military camp. Outside the martial field that lies in display of the military camp, we can also offer specific educational teachings upon a variety of topics. To mention some, we can propose the history of arms and armors, several medieval occupations like cooking and sewing or historical overtures like the “travel in the middle ages”, the figure of the pilgrim, and the history and study of heraldic. We put great effort into being historically and philologically accurate in everything we do.

The members of our group embody historical figures of men-at-arms that lived in the fourteenth century Italy. We only select characters of which reliable sources are available regarding their life, their House of belonging and their coats of arms. At the bottom of this page you can find the photos of all reconstructed figures.

EDUCATIONAL OVERTURE
La Compagnia d’Arme del Santo Luca offers educational teachings for both adults and children, with the possibility of organizing meetings and events dedicated to activities related to one or more topics. Our didactics can be inserted into existing events or can given individually. Our association also has a "stand" that can be used for exhibitions of the activities. The educational offers that our association proposes are:
- Arms and Armors: a journey through the evolution of the medieval military world, enriched by the presence of faithful historical reconstructions of weapons and armors.
- Cuisine and banquet: a journey through the food of the Low Middle Ages. Food, dishes, etiquette and the possibility of reconstructing a historic banquet allows a complete immersion in the flavors and traditions of the past.
- Tailoring: one of the oldest arts, it is re-proposed following to the careful study of findings and documents. From fabric to stitching, from tools to embroidery, we can offer didactics accompanied by practical demonstrations and examples.
- Travel and pilgrimage: a journey that wants to tell a rough, yet time very well structured world. It explains the ideals, the preconceptions, the places and the travels of medieval men. The predominant figure, that of the pilgrim, is analyzed in detail, and we give the possibility of seeing and touching the objects that each traveler carried with him.
- Heraldry: from the study of symbolism and meanings, this journey goes into the world of heraldic shields, and tells and explains the history, the interpretation of symbols and the hidden meanings behind noble houses.

SCHOOL OF ARMS
Another important aspect is the learning and the practice of medieval fighting techniques. Our group trains weekly to study the most relevant fencing treatises learn the correct handling of a wide range of weapons: from the sword to the spear, from the short bladed weapons to the shields. During the events we enjoy taking part in the battles and tournaments every time it is possible.
