Noema (nóēma, from Greek νόημα, “thought”, “concept”, “idea”) is an online magazine (ISSN 2283-3145) about the relationships between technology, science, culture, and society. The word “culture” also means “habits”, “lifestyles”, “communication”, “art”, “society”, “economy”, “media”, “philosophy”, “climate crisis”, “environment”, “post-human and non-human issues”…, while the term “technologies” should be understood more broadly than just in the digital sense. Noema has been online since March 2000, but its roots go back to the 90s: in March 1994, a small group from the University of Bologna published NetMagazine/MagNet (1994-98, see also here), the first online magazine in Italy, cited in books, courses, and conferences. In 2003, Noema was selected by RAI International as the best Italian cultural website. Noema has always been a reference in exploring and analyzing cultural transformations thanks to its network of authors, the multilingual articles and essays it publishes, and the projects and research it supports. Its Scientific Committee and Advisory Board include internationally renowned researchers, scholars, and experts. Noema is a partner of SciArt: Science, Art Society Project, a project of the European Commission’s Joint Research Center, and the European platform EMAP (European Media Art Platform). "As climate change, pollution, biodiversity loss and increasing pressure on resources continue to reshape our relationship with water, new forms of collaboration are urgently needed. How can art help us better understand the complexity of water systems? How can artists work alongside scientists, local communities, municipalities and policymakers to imagine new approaches to water management and ecological resilience? And how can creativity become a catalyst for awareness, participation and systemic change?"

From the project "Dialogues across the Seas"
"collection of contaminated water from around the world, gathered by activists, scientists, swimmers, and citizens. Each sample, seemingly indistinguishable, is inhabited by “spirits”: chemical traces that tell stories of political decisions, accidents, conflicts, exploitation, and resistance. Like ghosts, these substances elude the eye, persist in places and bodies, and alter ecosystems and communities. Their complexity makes it difficult to fully understand their effects, while their presence bears witness to a collective history of responsibility."

"What distinguishes this work is that it originated from a question posed by the artist herself: how many times can a cell be reprogrammed, and what traces of its previous states might remain? The question emerged from artistic reflection on the concepts of memory and identity, yet it resonated strongly with ongoing scientific investigations into cellular plasticity." "CLUSTER. Symphony of Data invita il pubblico a partecipare ad una esperienza immersiva, generata grazie all’elaborazione e alla traduzione in tempo reale dei dati dell’esperimento Atlas. Mostrati al pubblico attraverso una combinazione di laser, video-proiezioni e suoni generativi, eventi e valori numerici si trasformano in una composizione visivo-sonora in cui le collisioni subatomiche che producono il bosone di Higgs sono rappresentate su uno schermo che richiama idealmente una sezione di Atlas."
