I had to share some of the gorgeous fruits and vegetables I saw this morning in Sicily. The sweetness and depth of flavour of the fruit here is just 💥 I’d love to have my own kitchen here to get cooking but fruit as a beach snack is just heaven. I may have snuck an entire Burrata and a good helping of mortadella into my beach lunch too 😇

Staff breakfast at the restaurant: Bone Marrow on Sourdough Toast with Seven Minute Eggs 🥚and a herbaceous side salad 🥗 . Absolute banging. Homemade Rose & Earl Grey kombucha to drink🌹
Bone marrow reminds me of my Dad - us kids would squeal in horror / delight if he ordered it on a menu and then end up being fed morsels which we didn’t want to admit that we liked. Now… it’s a treat!

Morning all! I am thrilled to let you know that I will be running my first ever this year for in memory of my Mum, Pauline 💜🏃🏻‍♀️💜🏃🏻‍♀️💜
A little backstory: Mum passed away after a 3+ year battle with this awful disease in 2015. Only 57, she was far to young to die. Raising money to stop more people dying from this disease is a cause incredibly close to my heart.
For my own family, this was devastating on many levels, leaving my siblings and I without parents at a tender age.
I went on to finally study cookery in 2019 and combine my passions - food and community with the creation of in the first lockdown in 2020!
A long road which has finally brought me here - with an amazing community. I would be so grateful if you would consider sponsoring my marathon as a small payment for this page. We all know too well the agony of grief, let’s try and prevent this for more people in the future ❤️

🍽 DINING ALONE WAS NOT AS EASY AS I EXPECTED IT TO BE🍽
Now that I’ve grabbed you with that super-chilled header: I want to talk about eating as a table for one… definitely a hot topic for grievers - maybe you lost your person who you’d eat out with the most often?
There’s a huge security in walking into a restaurant with your person, or people. One we perhaps don’t notice until it’s taken away.
I’d been trying to get a table at for weeks and last night I finally had that precious table for two. One problem though… I didn’t have anyone to go with.
I wasn’t going to cancel and so it dawned on me that despite being one of those people who will merrily claim to have NO issue with eating in a restaurant alone… I hadn’t actually exercised that muscle in quite some time.
Luckily the pull of ‘s 2021 restaurant of the YEAR was a siren call I couldn’t resist and so I grabbed a book (aka: security blanket) and forced myself to go.
After being seated by the lovely staff who laughed and repeated ‘only you?’ a few times (much to my painfully British humiliation). Initially, I felt awkward. It seemed as though the entire restaurant had a view of me. Oh, to be granted the bliss of facing a wall! But no, full display. I watched other diners walk in and enthusiastically greet their friends and partners. I realised how much we TALK in restaurants. I didn’t have anyone to talk to so… I entertained myself by deciding to exercise another new habit: only ordering dishes I hadn’t had before. No veggie Thai green curry tonight! Well, I was on the money because the fresh clams stir-fried with Thai basil and chillies were divine and the crispy chicken noodles in a chicken and squid sauce with fresh and tender prawns and squid was delicious 🍤I savoured my meal, relaxed into my seat and stopped worrying about feeling observed. *caption too long - finished in comments*

Celebrating Valentines Day with an Awkward Family Photo ❤️😬❤️😬

Whether you’re single, in a relationship, possibly widowed, or anywhere in between, I hope you are feeling loved this Valentines Day.

I’ve had Valentines Days where I celebrated with partners, red roses and restaurant reservations… and Valentines alone where the highlight was a thoughtful card from a loving friend 🤗

There’s nothing wrong with either and I definitely am happy to avoid any pressure to feel that I OUGHT to be doing this or that today. Like all us grievers: I know how lucky I am to have loved ones around me. So, friends and family (especially you, Callum & Katie) - I love you! ♥️💘❤️

(We enjoyed some seriously delicious dumplings for my sister’s birthday 🎉 scroll for deliciousness) 🥟🥟🥟🥟

FOUNDER’s FOOD MEMORIES 🍞🧈🍯🧂
I have toast on the brain at the moment… I have been thinking about which are the best recipes to share with grievers? What straddles the fine line of effort + energy vs. deliciousness and unique appeal.
Well, let’s scrap all that for one post at least.
Wonkily carved bread, finger-scaldingly hot topped with generous slices of salted butter… who doesn’t have fond memories of toast?
It reminds me of finishing the school day and having two slices (always) before dinner whilst watching Neighbours and Hollyoaks…
I took these pictures yesterday… I popped in to see my sister as I happened to be passing by her flat and was caught in the rain (anyone in the UK can tell you it’s coming down by the bucket load right now and icy cold too 🥶) - she made me tea and toast and it couldn’t have been more welcome. Is there anything better than someone making you toast?
We do it for family, close friends, anyone we know well enough to still be in our pyjamas with and stand by the roaster saying ‘just one more slice’.
I’ve eaten toast with everyone I love. Not caviar, not sashimi, not eight course tasting menus. Toast ❤️
Swipe for my favourite topping: salted butter, drizzled honey and and sprinkling of Malden salt. Delicious 🤤
What’s your favourite toast topping?

FOUNDER’S FOOD MEMORIES NO.011 🦐🐟🍝
I remember this day so vividly. A Spring-time family holiday to Sorrento & Positano circa 2001… Pictured are my Dad and my little brother 💙 My Mum & Dad both ordered this gargantuan seafood main course and, despite gentle suggestions from the Italian waiters, also insisted on having starters… once Dad had helped himself to ample amounts of the starter buffet his enormous main arrived 😂 along with the bib which the waiter fastened around his neck with a flourish and wry smile…. Dad looked down at his plate and realised he had indeed had eyes bigger than his stomach 👀
We three kids were SO entertained by Dad’s predicament and bib that we clearly deedmed a photo necessary… hence my brother me mischievous expression and pointed finger towards Dad’s bib. I’m so glad to have found these pictures, because it’s such a fond memory, to have tangible proof of it is reassuring.
Happily, the restaurant name is even discernible from the pictures - magic! - I will definitely make a point of visiting again in the future and ordering a gigantic seafood dish in Dad’s memory💙
I would love to hear some more of your food memories - which special restaurants do you remember from long ago holidays which you want to visit again? Tag them below! ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

🍨 Brown Bread Ice Cream 🍨

I’m sharing this piece to show what is at the core of

💛Food. Nostalgia. Love💛

I’d love to know which food is your Brown Bread Ice Cream - that food which you recall putting a smile on your loved ones face. The food they would rush to order if they spotted it on a menu… would you ever think to try to learn how to cook it now?

Perhaps even just reading the recipe through would be therapeutic and enjoyable 🤍

I wrote this piece to show the power food and memory has to heal grief. I love spotting BBIC 🍨 on a menu and knowing that my Dad would be rushing to try it. It makes me smile to know I can try it for him. (He was super keen on rum and raisin too, by the way… easier to find too).

So, what’s the dish that reminds you most of a loved one… and would you like to learn to cook it? 🥧🥗🥘🍪🧁🍝🍜 ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
