☀️ Good morning, church!
Today, August 15th, is Ferragosto in Italy. For our brothers and sisters from other countries, here’s a little cultural note: Ferragosto has its origins in ancient Rome, in the Feriae Augusti, a period of festivities established by Emperor Augustus. Over the centuries, August 15th also became the Catholic feast of the Assumption of Mary.
As an evangelical church, of course, we do not celebrate the Assumption of Mary, since it is not a teaching found in Scripture. But knowing the history and traditions of the country where we live is a good way to understand one another better, especially in a church as international and multicultural as ours. 🌍❤️
And since today is a holiday, let’s remember that tomorrow is Sunday! 😊
🕚 11:00 AM — Worship & Praise Service
Tomorrow, there will be Sunday School class for children ages 6 to 10 in English. The Italian class will resume on August 30th. The nursery class for children up to 5 years old will be available.
It will be a joy to gather together, sing, pray, hear God’s Word, and encourage one another. A holiday may be a good reason to rest, but not to stop gathering together! Even on holidays, the church is not meant to simply be “put on pause.” 😉
So, no “vacation mode” for the church! How wonderful that we can come together and worship the Lord. 🙌

☀️ Buongiorno, chiesa!
Oggi, 15 agosto, in Italia è Ferragosto. Per i nostri fratelli e sorelle che vengono da altri Paesi, una piccola nota culturale: il Ferragosto ha origini nell’antica Roma, nelle Feriae Augusti, le feste istituite da Augusto. Nel corso dei secoli, il 15 agosto è poi diventato anche la festa cattolica dell’Assunzione di Maria.
Come chiesa evangelica, naturalmente, non celebriamo l’Assunzione di Maria, non essendo un insegnamento della Scrittura. Ma conoscere la storia e le tradizioni del Paese in cui viviamo è un bel modo per comprenderci meglio, soprattutto in una chiesa così internazionale e multiculturale come la nostra. 🌍❤️
E già che oggi è festa, ricordiamoci che domani è domenica! 😊
🕚 Ore 11:00 — incontro di lode e adorazione
Domani, ci sarà la scuola domenicale per i bambini dai 6 ai 10 anni in Inglese. La classe uni Italiano riprenderà il 30 Agosto. Ci sarà disponibile la classe del nido per i bambini fino ai 5 anni.
Sarà una gioia ritrovarci insieme, cantare, pregare, ascoltare la Parola e incoraggiarci gli uni gli altri. La festa può essere un buon motivo per riposare, ma non per smettere di riunirci! Anche nei giorni di festa, la chiesa non è fatta per essere semplicemente “messa in pausa”. 😉
Quindi, niente “modalità vacanza” per la chiesa! Che bello poterci incontrare e adorare insieme il Signore. 🙌
