C’è un luogo dove il Medioevo non si studia solo sui libri, ma si respira tra le vie del borgo.

Ogni anno, il Mercato delle Gaite trasforma Bevagna in un grande palcoscenico a cielo aperto, dove la vita quotidiana del XIII secolo rivive attraverso antichi mestieri e botteghe fedelmente ricostruite. Tra queste, la Cereria Medievale è una delle più affascinanti. Grazie a un accurato lavoro di ricerca storica, i maestri ceraioli riproducono le candele esattamente come nel 1250, utilizzando esclusivamente cera d’api e stoppini in canapa.

🕯️Avvolti dal bagliore caldo delle candele, si compie un viaggio nel passato, alla scoperta di un sapere che per generazioni ha accompagnato la vita delle comunità medievali.

There is a place where the Middle Ages are not only studied in books, but felt and breathed through the streets of the village.

Every year, the Mercato delle Gaite transforms Bevagna into a vast open-air stage, where daily life in the 13th century comes back to life through ancient crafts and faithfully reconstructed workshops.

Among them, the Medieval Candle Workshop is one of the most fascinating. Thanks to meticulous historical research, the master candle makers recreate candles exactly as they were made in 1250, using only beeswax and h**p wicks.

🕯️Surrounded by the warm glow of candlelight, visitors are taken on a journey into the past, discovering a craft that accompanied the life of medieval communities for generations.

“La mia speranza è di continuare a lavorare con il merletto.”

Quando Elena pronunciava queste parole, non sapeva ancora che quella speranza sarebbe diventata realtà.

Oggi Elena e Teresa, vincitrici delle borse di studio finanziate dalla Fondazione The Place of Wonders per il Corso di Alta Formazione nell’Arte del Merletto dell’Isola di Burano, sono state assunte come merlettaie dall’atelier Martina Vidal.

Una notizia che ci rende particolarmente orgogliosi perché dimostra che investire nella trasmissione dei mestieri d’arte significa anche creare concrete opportunità professionali per le nuove generazioni.

🧵Con il loro talento e la loro passione, Elena e Teresa rappresentano oggi una nuova generazione di merlettaie veneziane, contribuendo a mantenere vivo il tessuto sociale, culturale ed economico di Burano e una delle espressioni più autentiche del Made in Italy.

When Elena spoke these words, she had no way of knowing that her hope would soon become a reality.

Today, Elena and Teresa, recipients of scholarships funded by The Place of Wonders Foundation for the Training Course in the Art of Burano Lace, have been hired as lacemakers by the Martina Vidal atelier.

This is news that makes us especially proud, as it demonstrates that investing in the transmission of traditional crafts also means creating real professional opportunities for younger generations.

🧵Through their talent and dedication, Elena and Teresa now represent a new generation of Venetian lacemakers, helping to keep alive Burano’s social, cultural and economic fabric, as well as one of the most authentic expressions of Made in Italy.

Nel piccolo laboratorio di a Murano, la lavorazione delle perle di vetro a lume si trasmette da una mano all’altra. È la generosità del maestro a rendere possibile l’ingresso di nuove mani nel mestiere, dando continuità a un lavoro che vive solo se viene trasmesso. Così si costruisce una comunità, dove il lavoro prende forma insieme, giorno dopo giorno.

In queste immagini, le borsiste della Fondazione durante la loro formazione. È in questo scambio che il sapere continua a esistere.

In the small workshop of Alessia Fuga in Murano, the art of lampworked glass beads is passed from one hand to another. It is the generosity of the master that allows new hands to enter the craft, giving continuity to a work that can exist only if it is transmitted. This is how a community is formed, where work takes shape together, day after day.

A Firenze, tra i banchi della LAO , Jana muove i suoi primi passi nel mondo dell’oreficeria.

La sua passione per il gioiello è nata qualche anno fa, quando ha iniziato a sperimentare e creare da sola con i materiali che aveva a disposizione. Oggi frequenta il primo anno di oreficeria, dove quella curiosità iniziale si sta trasformando in competenze e consapevolezza.

📖 È così che una vocazione prende forma e, passo dopo passo, diventa un lavoro.
