Grazie di cuore a tutte le persone che hanno creduto in questa raccolta fondi e hanno scelto di sostenere il diritto alla salute mestruale per le donne rifugiate del campo di Maratane, in Mozambico.

La raccolta fondi ha raggiunto il suo obiettivo e oggi possiamo condividere una bellissima notizia: la produzione degli assorbenti riutilizzabili è già iniziata! 💜

Un ringraziamento speciale va a , che è già al lavoro per realizzare i kit mestruali che verranno distribuiti alle donne del campo, e alle straordinarie volontarie Rita, Viola e Noemi, che hanno dato vita a questo progetto con impegno, passione e vicinanza concreta alle comunità locali.

Al campo profughi di Maratane, nel nord del Mozambico, migliaia di donne vivono senza accesso ai beni igienici di base. Con la tua donazione possiamo cambiare questa realtà. Ogni contributo fa la differenza: dona ora e sostieni la salute mestruale come diritto fondamentale.

Siamo Rita, Viola e Noemi, volontarie di Servizio Civile Universale di e . Da nove mesi viviamo in Mozambico e a maggio abbiamo visitato il campo di Maratane, dove oltre 4.500 donne attendono da anni una risposta alle loro richieste d’asilo. Le condizioni precarie, la sospensione degli aiuti umanitari e i tabù sociali legati al ciclo mestruale rendono la loro quotidianità ancora più difficile.

Abbiamo già portato alcuni kit mestruali e beni di prima necessità, ma il bisogno è enorme. Per questo abbiamo avviato una collaborazione con , un’azienda locale che produce assorbenti lavabili e riutilizzabili di alta qualità, accompagnati da percorsi di formazione per garantire autonomia e consapevolezza.

Grazie al tuo sostegno vogliamo offrire una soluzione duratura ed ecosostenibile, che permetta a ogni donna del campo di gestire il ciclo in modo sicuro. Il progetto prevede:
- Prodotti igienici riutilizzabili: assorbenti lavabili e di lunga durata.
- Formazione e sensibilizzazione: incontri dedicati alla salute mestruale e all’uso corretto dei prodotti.

Con soli 12€ puoi sostenere 3 donne.

Obiettivo iniziale: 4.000€ per aiutare 1.000 donne.
Con 6.000€ raggiungeremo 1.500 donne.
Con 7.600€ arriveremo a 2.000 donne.

UN SUCCESSO PER LA COMUNITÀ 🚰

Abbiamo bellissime notizie: grazie all’impegno straordinario dei nostri volontari Giorgia, Nina e Alessandro, e al supporto di tutte le persone che hanno contribuito, il progetto per la costruzione del pozzo nel villaggio di Gandini sta prendendo forma, passo dopo passo… pole pole 🥰

✅ I lavori di scavo sono completati
Il 4 maggio è stato realizzato un foro profondo 55 metri, nel quale è stato inserito il tubo per il passaggio dell’acqua. Abbiamo poi effettuato un test fondamentale: l’acqua è stata pompata per diverse ore e il livello si è mantenuto stabile, confermando le previsioni del geologo. È stata inoltre costruita una copertura in cemento per proteggere il pozzo e garantire la qualità dell’acqua.

🏗️ Il progetto cresce insieme alla comunità
Nel villaggio, alcuni operai locali hanno iniziato la costruzione della struttura che sosterrà la tanica. Il cantiere è guidato da Bakari, insieme alla comunità di Gandini: un esempio concreto di collaborazione e coinvolgimento locale.

💛 Un risultato condiviso oltre le aspettative
Grazie alla raccolta fondi lanciata dai nostri volontari, abbiamo raggiunto e superato l’obiettivo: 6.103 euro raccolti! Un traguardo che dimostra quanto, insieme, si possano trasformare idee e impegno in cambiamento reale.

I lavori proseguono verso le fasi finali. Se resteranno fondi disponibili, saranno destinati ad altri progetti, sempre a beneficio della comunità di Gandini, che saranno condivisi.

LET'S WALK TOGHETER 👣

Our volunteers are in Maputo working with , a youth association committed to women’s rights and gender equality. Here, every day, they help build safer, more inclusive and participatory spaces.

🚶🏽‍♀️ What happens when we walk?
On May 28th, the third edition of “O que acontece quando nós caminhamos?” took place. It’s not just a walk. It’s a collective act of reclaiming urban space 💪🏾

For many women, moving through the city means facing insecurity and fear. This project turns that perspective around: walking together becomes an act of awareness, mapping and empowerment.

During the initiative:
📍 unsafe areas are identified
🤝 networks of solidarity among women are strengthened
🏙 more inclusive cities are imagined
🗺 a shared map of urban safety is created

FROM ASHES TO HOPE 💛

On January 12, 2026, a fire broke out at Promise Giving Children’s Home, our partner organization in Nairobi where Universal Civil Service volunteers carry out their service. The fire destroyed the boys’ dormitory, food store, and essential supplies, leaving the children without a safe living space.

⚠️In the immediate aftermath of this devastating event, something extraordinary happened ⤵️

Without hesitation, Marta and Clelia, former volunteers of the Universal Civil Service who previously served at Promise Giving Children’s Home, took action and immediately launched fundraising initiatives. With the support of other former volunteers, as well as families and friends, they built a strong network of solidarity.

Thanks to their dedication and to the generosity of everyone involved, more than €3,000 were raised to help rebuild and restore the structure 💞

Because of this collective effort:
✨ The dormitory has been rebuilt
✨ Beds and essential supplies have been replaced
✨ Food stocks have been restored
✨ The children can once again live in a safe and dignified environment

The journey of the Civil Peace Corps volunteers in Mozambique comes to an end, following their work within REFORMAR and the Boane Juvenile Detention Center. It has been an intense experience, intertwining analysis and presence, study and relationships, office-based work and field activities, with a constant focus on human dignity and on the possibility of creating concrete alternatives.

At REFORMAR, the Elisa, Elena, Alessandro and Alessandro contributed to research and projects on criminal justice, international cooperation, the prevention of juvenile delinquency, gender-based violence, and alternatives to detention. They worked in collaboration with national and international partners, organizing workshops, working groups, and public moments of restitution. This was often quiet, behind-the-scenes work, grounded in method, rigor, and close attention to the quality of content, yet essential for strengthening public debate and the protection of rights.

At the Boane Juvenile Detention Center, the weekly presence became a vibrant space for expression and participation. Through a radio and podcast project, creative writing workshops, collective listening sessions, and artistic activities, the volunteers accompanied the young people in discovering their own voices, supporting them in speaking out, telling their stories, and recognizing themselves as active participants in a shared path. Even in the face of difficulties, interruptions, and structural limitations, the work continued to focus on trust, empowerment, and the building of authentic relationships.

The experience comes to a close, but the traces left behind—within relationships, ongoing processes, and shared stories—will continue to move forward.

On 16 April, the launch event for the Radio Juvenil Tsakane podcast took place at Boane Juvenile Detention Centre, attended by local authorities.

The podcast was developed and recorded thanks to our partner and the young people from the Civil Peace Corps, who have been visiting the prison weekly since October to work with the young inmates.

The podcast consists of eight episodes, all of which are already available on YouTube, produced and presented by the inmates themselves, promoting their active participation and creative expression.

The event was attended by CAMMINI MINIMI, REFORMAR and various civil society groups, strengthening the community’s involvement in social reintegration initiatives.
