Protecting the Ocean also means understanding how it is changing.

On Nature Conservation Day, Ogyre and Luna Rossa highlight how everyday navigation can become a tool for scientific knowledge.

On the journey towards the 38th America’s Cup, the chase boats of the Team have been equipped with data aggregators that collect environmental information while sailing. Water depth, sea temperature, atmospheric pressure and other data normally used by the crews can now support scientific research, improve the understanding of marine conditions, contribute to ocean and weather forecasting, and help monitor changes over time.

This initiative is part of a wider collaboration that also includes an ongoing campaign to collect 308,000 kg of marine litter and coastal waste by 2028.

Taking care of the Ocean starts with collecting reliable data from the sea we sail every day.

Mangroves protect the Ocean in ways we don’t always see.
They shelter biodiversity, protect coastlines, store carbon, and act as natural barriers against waste before it reaches the sea.

On International Mangrove Day, we take you to Batu Lumbang, Bali, where our work starts among the roots: together with local fishing communities, we collect marine and coastal waste from this fragile ecosystem.
Since Ogyre started operating in the area, 85,000 m² of mangroves have been preserved, fishing capacity has increased by 50%, and the local crab has returned.

Collecting waste is only half the job.
The other half is making sure it ends up in the right place.

Every load is delivered to trusted local cooperatives and recycled whenever possible. When recycling isn’t feasible, materials are sent to waste-to-energy facilities or other authorized treatment solutions, ensuring the best possible end-of-life.
Every step is traceable through certified, blockchain-recorded data.
