Another eventful week in Bergolo!

We started the week by saying goodbye to a dear long-term volunteer Yasmeen and welcomed a new volunteer into our village. 💫

During the week we did our usual activities of going to the senior center and Bonafous (disability center). This week the Bonafous residents worked together with kindergarten kids - reading a story from a book and drawing elements from the story with the support of our volunteers. ❤️

We welcomed a group of short term volunteering teams and did a lot of preparations together with them for the Eco Festival that took place on the weekend.🌿

With that also the concert season in the region has started bringing wonderful artists to Bergolo and villages nearby.🎤

The week ended on a high note with many workshops, discussions and musical performances during the Eco Festival.🎉

🏰 Bergolo Medievale – Day 9: The Final Chapter

Every adventure eventually reaches its final page, and today it was time to close the story of Bergolo Medievale.

The last day was filled with mixed emotions: smiles, hugs, reflections, and many promises to meet again. After spending more than a week living, learning, creating, and overcoming challenges together, saying goodbye was not easy.

Alongside the farewell moments, participants also focused on an important part of the Erasmus+ experience. They explored the Youthpass process, reflecting on the skills, knowledge, and personal growth they developed throughout the project. They also began planning local follow-up actions that they will implement back in their communities, bringing the spirit and learning of Bergolo Medievale beyond the borders of the project itself.

Before departure, there was still time for one final challenge: a last game of Capture the Flag, giving everyone one more opportunity to run, laugh, compete, and create memories together.

The project concluded with a warm farewell from the Mayor of Bergolo, Mario Marone, whose hospitality, support, and belief in the value of youth initiatives helped make this experience possible. We are sincerely grateful to him and to the entire local community for welcoming participants from across Europe into their village.

Thank you to everyone who was part of this journey. Until the next adventure ✨

🏰 Bergolo Medievale – Day 8: Following the Paths of History

Today our participants left the walls of Bergolo and set off on an adventure through the forests and hills of Alta Langa.
Following ancient paths between the villages, the group hiked from Bergolo to Prunetto with a clear mission: to discover the medieval heritage that inspired so much of the experience they had been living throughout the week.

The destination was the beautiful Castle of Prunetto and its historic church, where participants had the opportunity to dive deeper into the history of the region and explore authentic traces of the medieval world. Along the way, nature, landscapes, and good company made the journey itself part of the adventure.

A special thanks goes to our wonderful guides, Paola and Beppe, who shared their knowledge, stories, and passion for local history. Through their explanations, participants discovered fascinating details about medieval architecture, the life of the castle, and the remarkable frescoes preserved inside the church.

It was a day full of walking, discovery, learning, and unforgettable views, connecting the imaginary medieval world of the LARP with the real history that still lives in the territory today.

A long and intense day, but one filled with curiosity, inspiration, and memories that will stay with us long after the journey home ✨

🏰 Bergolo Medievale – Day 7: Closing the Story

Every story must eventually come to an end.

Today marked the official conclusion of the medieval LARP that has transformed Bergolo into a living village full of characters, alliances, conflicts, celebrations, and adventures throughout the week.

The morning began with a closing ceremony where participants stepped out of their medieval roles and said goodbye to the characters they had created and developed over the past days. Together, they reflected on the journey of the village and all the events that shaped its story.

To preserve the memory of the experience, participants worked collectively on a medieval tapestry illustrating the key moments of the LARP, from the first royal decrees and market rivalries to the investigations, celebrations, and festivals that followed. They also wrote the stories of their own characters for the Bergolo Medievale Village Book, leaving behind a record of the people who once inhabited this imaginary medieval world.

The day continued with reflection activities, giving participants the opportunity to connect the experiences of the game with their own personal learning, friendships, and discoveries made during the exchange.

In the afternoon, the period of digital disconnection officially came to an end. After a week focused on face-to-face interaction, participants reconnected with their phones and shared their experiences, memories, and stories with friends and family.

The day concluded with an intercultural evening, where countries shared food, traditions, music, dances, and pieces of their cultures, celebrating the diversity that brought everyone together in Bergolo.

Bergolo Medievale – Day 6: The Great Medieval Fair

After days of preparation, planning, and teamwork, the gates of the Bergolo Medieval Fair finally opened.

The festival was entirely brought to life by the participants themselves, who transformed their ideas into workshops, games, tournaments, and activities for visitors. Throughout the day, the village was filled with laughter, challenges, music, and the lively atmosphere of a medieval celebration.

Everyone could take part in a treasure hunt through the village, learn traditional dances, join a braiding workshop, test their strength in arm wrestling competitions, compete in the knights' tournament, try their luck at the medieval casino, and enjoy a self-defense combat demonstration.

What made the day special was not only the variety of activities, but the fact that every workshop, game, and challenge was designed and facilitated by the young participants themselves. Throughout the exchange, they learned how to work as a team, organize events, manage responsibilities, and transform creative ideas into real experiences for others.

For one day, Bergolo truly became a medieval village once again ✨

🌿🏰 Bergolo Medievale – Day 5: Preparing the Festival

The village of Bergolo is getting ready for its biggest celebration.

Today was dedicated to preparation, cooperation, and creativity as the families worked tirelessly to organize the great festival that will open its gates tomorrow. Throughout the day, participants designed medieval workshops, crafted activities for visitors, prepared tournaments and games, and transformed their ideas into experiences that will soon be shared with the local community.

Behind every challenge, contest, and workshop stands a team of young people learning how to collaborate, organize events, solve problems, and bring a collective vision to life.

As evening approached, the story of Bergolo took a mystical turn.

Faced with a devastating famine threatening the village, the families gathered for an ancient pagan celebration marking the arrival of summer. Through symbolic rituals, challenges, music, and plenty of medieval superstition, participants attempted to restore balance and prosperity to the land. Old beliefs came alive once again as the village united to chase away misfortune and welcome a season of abundance.

A day of preparation, imagination, and community spirit before tomorrow's grand festival opens its doors to the world ✨

🏰 Bergolo Medievale – Day 4: The Trial of Bergolo

A shadow fell over the village today.

What began as an investigation into a mysterious crime quickly turned into a crisis that divided the city. Rumours spread through the streets, accusations flew between families, and fear of an unknown conspiracy gripped Bergolo. According to the authorities of the medieval city, someone had committed an act so terrible that it threatened not only the laws of the village, but the very soul of the community.

Throughout the day, participants found themselves facing difficult choices. Who could be trusted? Were the accused truly guilty? Should decisions be based on evidence, fear, loyalty, or public opinion?

Through investigations, negotiations, debates, and dramatic trials, the young people explored how societies react during moments of uncertainty and crisis. They experienced firsthand how rumours can spread, how easily people can be influenced, and how challenging it can be to seek justice when emotions run high.

As the story unfolded, alliances shifted, secrets emerged, and the fate of Bergolo rested in the hands of its citizens.

Another day where medieval role-play became a powerful tool to explore cooperation, critical thinking, responsibility, and community life through experience rather than theory.

Last week at the office was slower than normally, as the final preparations for Bergolo Medievale kept people busy. It was all worth it as Medievale is now officially kicked into motion!

But even during an Exchange, life continues as normal, and we have lots of ideas what to do during the art hour at Bonafous and our other weekly meetings! Country presentations, however, are now done for this spring, and will continue again in autumn 🌐

⚔️ Bergolo Medievale – Day 3: The Market of Bergolo 🏰
Today the peaceful village of Bergolo woke up divided.
The families disappeared for one day and a new order took over the town: Merchants, Warriors, and Bandits competed for influence, territory, and power during the morning strategy game across the village. Alliances shifted, tactics emerged, and the streets and hills of Bergolo turned into a living medieval conflict full of negotiations, ambushes, and unexpected betrayals.
But once the morning battle ended, the Sovereign Fair officially began.
Weapons were put away and participants transformed from rivals into craftsmen, traders, and creators. Throughout the afternoon, the medieval village became a space of cooperation and handmade production through workshops inspired by traditional crafts and sustainability practices.
Participants created recycled paper by hand, prepared macramé bracelets, worked with clay pottery, harvested fruits and aromatic herbs from the garden, and produced goods for the final village market.
By the evening, Bergolo was filled with handmade stalls, trading, laughter, bargaining, and community spirit as everyone gathered for the grand medieval market to sell and exchange their creations ✨
A day that started with conflict ended with collaboration, creativity, and shared village life.
