BLUE TECH is a strategic Greece-Italy project boosting the Blue Economy.

By building a cross-border innovation ecosystem, it will support 200 SMEs with mentoring, incubation and tech transfer, while developing digital hubs, AI tools and pilot actions.

🌊 BLUE TECH is getting ready for its next milestone!

In recent weeks, project partners have been working together to prepare the next phase of activities, with a strong focus on collaboration, stakeholder engagement and the co-design of the project's pilot actions.

During a recent online meeting, it was confirmed that the next BLUE TECH Steering Committee Meeting will take place in Patras on 16–17 July.

Those days will also mark the start of an important new chapter for the project: the first Stakeholder Meeting, organised by the Economic Chamber of Greece. The event will kick off a series of workshops, mentoring sessions and collaborative activities involving stakeholders and talents from across the Programme area.

A lot is happening behind the scenes, and this is only the beginning!

The Region of Epirus is involved in the creation of a Digital Hub in Ioannina, supporting innovation and the implementation of Smart Specialisation Strategies (RIS).

Within BLUE TECH, the Puglia Region is leading a key pilot action focused on the development of a Digital Twin at the Port of Brindisi, supporting logistics for offshore wind and hydrogen supply chains.

This initiative aims to enhance efficiency, sustainability and innovation in maritime logistics, while opening new opportunities for SMEs in the energy sector.

Supporting SMEs in their digital and sustainable transition is at the core of the Οικονομικό Επιμελητήριο της Ελλάδας- Economic Chamber of Greece’s role in BLUE TECH.

Within the project, it is responsible for a pilot action focused on the development of a Decision Support System (DSS) to help businesses adopt AI solutions and improve ESG reporting.

The Chamber is also leading WP3 – Stakeholder Engagement and Pilot Co-design, working to activate the quadruple helix model and involve talents in co-designing the 7 pilot actions, ensuring they respond to real local needs and can be sustained over time.

🌊 What do we mean by Blue Economy?

It includes all activities connected to the sea, such as:

⚓ maritime transport
🏖 coastal tourism
🐟 aquaculture
🧬 marine biotechnology

These sectors are essential for sustainable growth and innovation across Mediterranean regions.

The BLUE TECH project works to support SMEs operating in these sectors and to create new opportunities through technology and cooperation between Italy and Greece.

🌊 BLUE TECH Launch Conference

A shared vision, a room full of ideas, and a clear direction for the future.
Yesterday morning, the BLUE TECH project officially came to life during its public launch event, bringing together voices from across Italy and Greece around one common goal: unlocking the potential of the Blue Economy through innovation and cooperation.

Two key conversations guided the discussion:
🔹 how to better support SMEs in embracing innovation, collaboration and digital tools
🔹 how to drive the blue transition through sustainable infrastructures, smart technologies and more efficient territorial management

What emerged was a strong sense of opportunity and the awareness that real change happens when innovation, sustainability and cross-border collaboration move forward together.

This is just the beginning!
