🌊 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝘄

🫶🏻 Meet 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗮, 𝗢𝘁𝘁𝗶 and 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶, the three tiny sea ambassadors of 4helixAquaCultureNet.

🪡 For our project gadgets, we chose something different from the usual giveaway: handmade sea creatures inspired by the Mediterranean, created to carry the values of cooperation, care and connection with the territory wherever they go.

And they are not just adorable. Each artisanal gadget supports the Museo del Mare di Nardò, transforming a small object into a concrete way to promote local craftsmanship, culture and knowledge of the sea.

A starfish, an octopus and a little fish, three pocket-sized companions for a blue future, built together in cooperation.

🌊 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀-𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀

📆 On 23 July, the 4helixAquaCultureNet project held a new networking event in Porto Cesareo, hosted by the Cooperativa Pescatori dello Jonio.

Founded in 1979, the cooperative represents a long-standing example of collaboration among local fishers, created to strengthen their autonomy in the management, preservation and sale of their catch.

🎣 The meeting offered an important opportunity to listen directly to the fishing community and discuss the challenges currently affecting the sector, including the reduction in effective fishing days, limited generational renewal and administrative barriers that make it increasingly difficult to transfer skills and knowledge to younger generations.

At the same time, the discussion highlighted new opportunities to enhance the cultural heritage, professional expertise and stories connected to the sea, transforming local knowledge into future services, projects and employment opportunities.

🇮🇹 The insights collected in Porto Cesareo will contribute to the development of the 4helix Cross-border Aquaculture Network and the future e-Aquaculture Hub, strengthening dialogue among businesses, research organisations, public institutions and local communities.

🇬🇷 By connecting real needs with skills, innovation and cooperation, the Network aims to build practical and sustainable perspectives for the future of fisheries and aquaculture across the Greece–Italy area.

🌊𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗳𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗟𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗱𝗮

Fish welfare is essential for healthy ecosystems and sustainable fisheries. In lake Trichonida the atherina plays a key role in maintaining the lake’s ecological balance while supporting traditional fishing, gastronomy and the local economy.

🐟By maintaining water quality, protecting natural environment and encouraging responsible fishing practises, we can support healthy fish population and preserve the rich biodiversity of lake Trichonida for the future generations.

🌱 The implementation of sound environmental practices and the promotion of sustainable water resource management are key pillars of the 4helixAquaCultureNet project. The project promotes the adoption of sustainable practices, thereby contributing to the protection and enhancement of the region’s natural resources.

📍 In Apulia (Southern Italy), one of the key areas involved in the Interreg Greece-Italy, the regional authority Regione Puglia has launched two new funding calls to support the processing and marketing of fisheries and aquaculture products, aiming to make the sector more competitive, safe, and sustainable.

🇪🇺 These opportunities are funded by 𝗘𝗠𝗙𝗔𝗙 (𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲, 𝗙𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗱), the European Union’s financial instrument designed to promote sustainable fisheries and innovative, responsible aquaculture.

Within 4helixAquaCultureNet, we are working on exactly this:
innovation, sustainability, and stronger aquaculture value chains across the Greece–Italy area.

🇬🇷 | 🇭🇷 Legacoop Puglia joined the Second INFODAY – Fishing Tourism Sector in Lecce, promoted by the University of Salento within the Blueslinks project, funded by the Interreg Italy-Croatia Programme.

📸 The contribution by Legacoop Puglia was delivered by Elisabetta Iacobbe, Communication Manager, who presented 4helixAquaCultureNet, funded by the Interreg Greece-Italy Programme, as a cross-border cooperation experience in the aquaculture sector. The event offered a valuable opportunity to connect territories, skills and European cooperation programmes, highlighting the role of cooperation as a space where alliances can be built.
