🐋 Why did we choose the Blue Whale as the symbol of this movement?

Among the largest and most powerful voices in nature, the whale carries one of the strongest sounds on Earth. Inspired by the mysterious 52Hz whale, known as the “loneliest whale,” we created Blue Whale Biennale 52Hz as a symbol of unheard voices, human connection, and artistic unity.

🌊 The 52Hz whale communicates on a frequency different from others.
Its voice travels across oceans, yet it is believed that no other whale truly hears it.

We believe many artists, designers, and creative voices around the world feel the same way.

That is why we chose the whale.
A symbol of strength, isolation, persistence, and hope.

🎨 We also selected the number 52 because the biennale presents 52 selected artworks connected to the symbolic frequency of the whale itself.

Our belief is simple:
Designers and artists have powerful voices.
And when creative voices unite, the world listens.

ABOUT VOIA
VOIA (Voices of International Art) is an international visual arts platform developed under Blue Whale 52, a long-term curatorial biennale initiative dedicated to contemporary visual culture, concept-driven practices, and global artistic dialogue.

The inaugural edition of the platform is presented as Voices of Iran Design Awards 2026, bringing together artists, designers, illustrators, and visual thinkers from around the world through exhibitions, awards, and curated international visibility.

Rather than functioning as a conventional competition, VOIA operates as a selective cultural platform focused on concept, clarity of thought, visual intelligence, and meaningful exchange across borders.

The platform places strong emphasis on works that communicate beyond surface aesthetics and demonstrate depth, relevance, and originality through visual language.

🎨 Our project focuses on contemporary social and cultural themes through powerful poster design, illustration, and visual storytelling. We organize physical and virtual exhibitions, international artist collaborations, publications, and cultural art events that connect creative voices from around the world.

The Blue Whale 52Hz Biennial

Every identity begins with a question.

For us, the question was:
How can a visual identity represent silence, distance, human emotion, and global artistic dialogue at the same time?

The answer slowly emerged through the story of the 52Hz Whale, often described as the loneliest whale in the world.

Unlike other whales, its frequency exists outside the common range. A voice moving through the ocean, unheard by others, yet continuing to travel across immense distances.

That idea became the emotional and conceptual foundation of the biennial.

The logo was not designed simply as an illustration of a whale.
It was developed as a symbolic structure.

A form that balances movement and stillness.
Isolation and connection.
Silence and resonance.

The circular composition reflects continuity, cycles, and collective dialogue across cultures.
The flowing curves were intentionally refined to create a sense of motion, depth, and organic communication rather than a static emblem.

From a technical perspective, the mark was simplified into a clean and scalable visual system capable of existing across exhibition spaces, publications, digital platforms, motion graphics, and institutional applications while maintaining a strong conceptual identity.

The choice of deep blue was equally intentional.

Blue represents depth, distance, introspection, and the emotional atmosphere of the ocean itself.
It also became a visual language for the platform:
quiet but present,
minimal yet emotionally charged.

The number 52 became more than a reference.
It evolved into a curatorial principle.

A symbolic structure connected to selection, visibility, and the idea that even unheard voices continue to move through the world.

The Blue Whale 52Hz Biennial was created not only as an exhibition platform, but as a long-term cultural initiative exploring contemporary visual expression, human experience, and meaningful artistic dialogue across borders.
