It is an international sport event in order to establish love, peace and non-violence in Iraq.

It is an international sport event in order to establish love, peace and non-violence in Iraq, and to inform the world that there is a strong community of leaders of civil society in Iraq who are committed to peace and nonviolence and justice for their country and that are supported by a wide range of international partners. Furthermore, the Marathon has the following objectives:

1) increase awar

eness of the Iraqi society to the concept of peace and community building through sport.
2) provide an opportunity for people of all backgrounds and regions in Iraq to work together and a commitment to peace and non-violence in the country.
3) provide an opportunity for the international community to stand up publicly (and running!) In solidarity with the Iraqis in their struggle for human rights, peace and justice.
4) educate young people about Iraq's new and exciting ways of peace and community building through sport, and renounce violence. Erbil International marathon for peace and development will not only host the professional runners, but also sports fans, whether they are individuals or families or people with special needs from both sexes, where they can participate individually or in groups representing non-governmental organizations, government ministries, and youth clubs and student trade unions or any other informal groups, to compete in one of the following races (2 km, 10 km, full marathon 42.194 km) where many prizes will be awarded to the winners.

For more than 8 years, Erbil Marathon has believed in the power of sport to make a real difference in the lives of cancer patients.

Through our Hope Run initiative, we use sport as a tool to:
🏃‍♂️ Raise funds to support cancer patients
🎓 Educate students and youth about giving, solidarity, and community support
🎗️ Spread awareness about cancer and the importance of early action

Every step we take is a message of hope.
Every run is a reminder that cancer patients are not alone.
