Proverbs 1:3
“For receiving prudent instruction in righteousness, justice, and integrity.”
Observation
Righteousness, justice, and integrity are not just ideas—they are the foundation of a life shaped by God.
Righteousness is our right standing with Him, and the life that flows from it—not something we earn, but something we live out.
Justice is how we respond to people—refusing to withhold good, stepping in when something is broken or unjust.
Integrity is who we are both within the context and confines of our own home and out in public—internally and externally. We do not have different standards.
Prudent instruction teaches us how to live with discernment—knowing what to give, what to withhold, and how to guard what God has entrusted to us. It is not fear, but wisdom. It helps us not to give what is valuable carelessly, but to steward it rightly.
The way of this world often feels upside down to these things. But in truth, it is the Kingdom of heaven that is upside down to the world. We wash the feet of those we serve. We go to the lowly, not the highest, to love, to give, and to serve. The first will be last, and the last will be first.
Righteousness, justice, integrity—and even prudence—are not culturally defined. They are defined by the Kingdom of heaven, and we come to know them through the knowledge of Scripture.
Application
Take a moment to reflect:
* Where am I living from my right standing with God—and where am I striving instead? (Righteousness)
* Is there a place where I am holding back when I could respond with generosity or responsibility? (Justice)
* Am I living with the same standard in private and in public? (Integrity)
* Am I walking with discernment in what I give, what I hold, and how I steward what God has entrusted to me? (Prudence)
Let the Lord gently reveal, not to condemn, but to bring clarity and growth.
Prayer
Lord,
Thank You that my right standing with You is secure through Jesus’ blood, not through my own striving or works.
Holy Spirit, teach me how to live this out daily in righteousness, justice, integrity, and prudence.
Father, I ask that You would open my eyes to discern what to give, what to withhold, and how to steward what You have entrusted to me.
Show me Your ways, Lord, that I may walk with You, not in the ways of the world.
I pray that my life will reflect Your truth, both in my private life and in my public life.
In Jesus’ name, amen!
