Through this activity, we provided children with educational support, remedial classes, and learning assistance to strengthen their learning and support their well-being.
This week, we completed the sessions for both groups of children, focusing particularly on mathematics support for Grade 9 students. It has been wonderful to see the children actively participating, learning, and engaging throughout the sessions.
We are grateful to Crosspoint Europe for making these learning opportunities possible, and to Zewa Center for their valuable cooperation and support in implementing these sessions.

ئەم سوپاسیا رێکخراوا (Crosspoint Europe) دکەین بو ڤان دەرفەتێن فێربوونێ، و سوپاسیا سەنتەرێ زێوە (Zewa Center) دکەین بۆ هەماهەنگییا وان یا ب بها و پشتەڤانییا وان د بجهئینانا ڤان وانەیان دا.

من خلال هذا النشاط، قدمنا للأطفال الدعم التعليمي، والدروس التقوية، والمساعدة في التعلم، بهدف تعزيز مستواهم الدراسي ودعم رفاههم.
خلال هذا الأسبوع، أكملنا الجلسات للمجموعتين من الأطفال، مع التركيز بشكل خاص على دعم مادة الرياضيات لطلبة الصف التاسع. وقد كان من الرائع رؤية الأطفال يشاركون بفاعلية، ويتعلمون ويتفاعلون طوال فترة الجلسات.
نتقدم بجزيل الشكر إلى Crosspoint Europe على إتاحة هذه الفرص التعليمية، وإلى مركز زيوا (Zewa Center) على تعاونهم القيّم ودعمهم في تنفيذ هذه الجلسات.

We are happy to introduce the first group of 15 women from Khanki Camp participating in our new hydroponic farming project, implemented with the support of WWDP and Wadi NGO.
The group has successfully completed their training at the College of Agriculture in Duhok, gaining practical skills in hydroponic farming and sustainable agriculture. Hydroponic farming is a promising opportunity for Yazidi women as it requires less land and water while creating potential livelihood and income-generating opportunities.
Through this project, we aim to empower women with new skills, strengthen their self-reliance, and support them in building sustainable livelihoods. 🌿

بكل سرور، نعرّفكم على المجموعة الأولى من 15 امرأة من مخيم خانكي المشاركات في مشروعنا الجديد للزراعة المائية، والذي يتم تنفيذه بدعم من WWDP ومنظمة وادي.
أنهت المجموعة بنجاح تدريبها في كلية الزراعة في دهوك، واكتسبت مهارات عملية في مجال الزراعة المائية والزراعة المستدامة.
تُعد الزراعة المائية فرصة واعدة للنساء الإيزيديات، كونها تحتاج إلى مساحة ومياه أقل، وتوفر فرصًا محتملة لكسب الدخل وتحسين سبل العيش.
من خلال هذا المشروع، نسعى إلى تمكين النساء بالمهارات الجديدة، وتعزيز اعتمادهن على أنفسهن، ودعمهن في بناء سبل عيش مستدامة. 🌿

"Our colleague Basma Aldikhi is a Yazidi activist and has been working with survivors of the genocide at Wadi e. V. since 2014. She is also a co-author of various reports on the continuing catastrophic situation in the camps for internally displaced persons in Kurdish Iraqi-Kurdistan.

Basma reports that the situation has worsened once again in recent years, particularly following the withdrawal of international aid organizations, and that many camp residents are now contemplating su***de. For most, a return to the Sinjar Mountains—which were captured by ISIS in 2014—is unthinkable. Insecurity persists there, and there is virtually no infrastructure or economic prospects.

While the fate of the Yazidis once dominated the global media, they are now increasingly being forgotten, even though the consequences of the genocide remain a daily reality for them. Of the more than 6,000 girls and women abducted by ISIS at that time—who were subjected to systematic sexual abuse—only about 3,500 have returned so far. There is still no trace of the others.

Basma thus concludes that if the situation does not change, ISIS will likely have prevailed in the long run, because the Yazidi community would then be destroyed. Meanwhile, Yazidi refugees from Europe—especially from Germany—are now even being deported back to Iraq, and thus into a life devoid of prospects and hope.

She therefore urges people not to forget the Yazidis, especially in light of the massive cuts to aid. Meanwhile, even schools are having to close due to a lack of funds and teaching staff. Healthcare in the camps has also been reduced to a minimum."
