تفتخر الجمعية الآشورية الخيرية – العراق (AAS-Iraq) بمشاركتها في الدورة الخامسة والعشرين من المنتدى الدائم للأمم المتحدة المعني بقضايا الشعوب الأصلية (UNPFII)، المنعقد خلال الفترة من 20 نيسان إلى 1 أيار 2026، ويمثلها كل من السيدة كارميلا بوراشان والأنسة آشورينا أبراهام.

يصادف اليوم افتتاح أعمال المنتدى، الذي يُعد الهيئة المركزية التابعة للأمم المتحدة والمكرّسة لمعالجة حقوق وقضايا الشعوب الأصلية على مستوى العالم، بما يشمل مجالات التنمية الاقتصادية والاجتماعية، والثقافة، والبيئة، والصحة، وحقوق الإنسان، والمساواة بين الجنسين، والتعليم. وقد تم تأسيس المنتدى قبل 25 عامًا، ويُعد منصة مهمة لإيصال أصوات الشعوب الأصلية إلى المستوى الدولي.

وتحمل الجمعية الآشورية الخيرية – العراق صفة استشارية خاصة لدى المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي منذ عام 2011.

AAS-Iraq proudly participates in the 25th session of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII) held on April 20 - May 1, 2026, and is represented by Ms. Karmella Borashan and Ms. Ashuriena Abraham.

Today marks the opening ceremony of the UNPFII, which is the United Nations’ central body dedicated to addressing the rights and concerns of indigenous peoples globally across economic and social development, culture, environment, health, human rights, gender equality, and education. Established 25 years ago, the Forum serves as a critical platform to elevate indigenous voices at the international level. Assyrian Aid Society-Iraq holds special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council since 2011.

Narsi David 17th Tournament… A Message of Loyalty That Brings Youth Together and Promotes Coexistence

In an atmosphere filled with love and belonging, the Assyrian Aid Society-Iraq sponsored the 17th Narsi David Tournament, in memory of the late Narsi David and in recognition of his humanitarian legacy.

The tournament, organized by the Chaldo-Assyrian Students and Youth Union, witnessed notable participation. The men’s final brought together Nahla and Khoyada, while Bakhitme faced Nahla in the women’s final, held at Malka Stadium in Bakhitme village with a large audience in attendance.

Nahla won first place in the men’s category, while Bakhitme achieved first place in the women’s category, reflecting strong competition and determination.

Mr. Younan Lazar Mirkhail stated that the tournament aims to bring youth together, support them, and open new horizons for their talents. Mr. Robert Nozad also expressed gratitude for AASI’s support.

At the conclusion, AASI supported all four finalist teams, with awards presented in a celebratory atmosphere.

The event concluded with hopes to expand participation in future editions to include teams from outside the country.

بطولة نرسي ديفيد السابعة عشرة… رسالة وفاء تجمع الشباب وتعزز روح التعايش

في أجواءٍ مفعمة بالمحبة والانتماء، قامت الجمعية الآشورية الخيرية – العراق برعاية بطولة نرسي ديفيد السابعة عشرة، تخليدًا لذكرى الراحل نرسي ديفيد واستذكارًا لإرثه الإنساني.

شهدت البطولة مشاركة مميزة بتنظيم اتحاد الطلبة والشبيبة الكلدواشوري، حيث جمعت المباراة النهائية لفئة الرجال بين نهلة وخويادا، فيما تنافست باختمي ونهلة في فئة النساء، وأُقيمت في ملعب ملكا بقرية باختمي وسط حضور جماهيري واسع.

الجمعية الآشورية الخيرية تستقبل عدداً من مدراء المدارس لبحث دعم العملية التعليمية

استقبلت الجمعية الآشورية الخيرية – العراق، يوم الأربعاء 15 نيسان 2026، عددًا من مدراء المدارس، في إطار جهودها المستمرة لدعم القطاع التربوي وتعزيز واقع التعليم.

وضم اللقاء كلًّا من السيد هاول يعقوب مدير إعدادية نصيبين، والسيدة مورين ادم مديرة مدرسة أكيتو الأساسية. وتم خلال الاجتماع مناقشة أبرز احتياجات المدارس والتحديات التي تواجهها في ظل الظروف الراهنة، والتداعيات الناتجة عن الأوضاع والصراعات في منطقة الشرق الأوسط، وما خلّفته من آثار على سير العملية التعليمية وأوضاع الطلبة.

كما بحث الجانبان سبل تعزيز التعاون المشترك، وتقديم الدعم اللازم لتطوير البيئة التعليمية، ولا سيما في مجال التعليم السرياني، بما يسهم في استمرارية العملية التربوية والارتقاء بمخرجاتها.

من جهتهم، أعرب مدراء المدارس عن شكرهم وتقديرهم للجمعية الآشورية الخيرية على جهودها المتواصلة في دعم التعليم، مؤكدين أهمية هذا الدعم في مواجهة التحديات الحالية وخدمة الطلبة.

*AAS-Iraq Receives a Number of School Principals to Discuss Support for the Educational Process*

The Assyrian Aid Society – Iraq received, on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, a number of school principals as part of its ongoing efforts to support the educational sector and enhance the state of education.

The meeting included Mr. Hawel Yaqoub, Principal of Nisibin Preparatory School, and Ms. Moreen Adam, Principal of Akitu Primary School. During the meeting, key school needs and the challenges they face were discussed, particularly in light of the current circumstances and the repercussions of the situation and conflicts in the Middle East, and their impact on the educational process and students’ overall conditions.

The meeting also addressed ways to strengthen joint cooperation and provide the necessary support to develop the educational environment, especially in the field of Assyrian education, contributing to the continuity of the educational process and the improvement of its outcomes.

For their part, the school principals expressed their gratitude and appreciation to the Assyrian Aid Society for its continued efforts and ongoing support for education, emphasizing the importance of this support in addressing the challenges and serving students.

Narsi David 17th Tournament… A Message of Loyalty That Brings Youth Together and Promotes Coexistence

In an atmosphere filled with love and a sense of belonging, and as part of efforts to support youth talents and strengthen the values of coexistence and unity among our people, the Assyrian Aid Society-Iraq sponsored and supported the organization of the 17th Narsi David Tournament, in memory of the late Narsi David, former president of the Assyrian Aid Society of America, and in recognition of his humanitarian legacy.

The tournament witnessed notable participation, organized by the Chaldo-Assyrian Students and Youth Union. The final match for the men’s category brought together the teams of Nahla and Khoyada, while in the women’s category, Bakhitme competed against Nahla. The final match was held at Malka Stadium in Bakhitme village, with a large audience in attendance and participation from various institutions of our people, including members of the political bureau of the Assyrian Democratic Movement, in a scene that reflected unity and cohesion.

The results concluded with Nahla winning first place in the men’s category, while Bakhitme achieved first place in the women’s category, in a success that reflects the spirit of competition and determination among the participating teams.

In his speech, Mr. Younan Lazar Mirkhail, President of the Assyrian Aid Society-Iraq, stated that naming the tournament is a tribute to the memory of the late Narsi David, emphasizing that its goal goes beyond sports competition to include bringing youth together, supporting them, and opening new horizons for them to express their abilities and develop their talents.

Mr. Robert Nozad, Secretary of the Chaldo-Assyrian Students and Youth Union, also expressed his gratitude for the efforts of the Assyrian Aid Society-Iraq in supporting the Union’s activities, especially the Narsi David Tournament.

At the conclusion of the event, AASI provided support to all four teams participating in the finals of both categories. The award ceremony was held in the presence of the President of AASI and several members, including Mr. Patros Isho, Head of the Relief Department, Mr. Napoleon Yousif, Head of the Syriac Education Department, Mr. Eramia Sargon, Secretary of AASI, and Mr. Goorges Marqos, from the Reconstruction and Media Department, in a celebratory atmosphere that reflected appreciation and support for sporting talents.

The event concluded with hopes of expanding participation in future editions to include teams from outside the country, strengthening bridges of communication and connection among our people at home and in the diaspora.

في أجواءٍ مفعمة بالمحبة والانتماء، وحرصًا على دعم طاقات الشباب وتعزيز قيم التعايش والتقارب بين أبناء شعبنا، قامت الجمعية الآشورية الخيرية – العراق برعاية ودعم إقامة بطولة نرسي ديفيد السابعة عشرة، تخليدًا لذكرى الراحل نرسي ديفيد الرئيس السابق للجمعية الآشورية الخيرية في أمريكا، واستذكارًا لإرثه الإنساني.

شهدت البطولة مشاركة مميزة بتنظيم اتحاد الطلبة والشبيبة الكلدواشوري، حيث جمعت المباراة النهائية لفئة الرجال بين فريق نهلة وفريق خويادا، فيما تنافست في فئة النساء كل من فريق باختمي وفريق نهلة. وقد أُقيمت المباراة النهائية في ملعب ملكا بقرية باختمي وسط حضور جماهيري واسع، وبمشاركة مؤسسات شعبنا المختلفة، ومن بينها حضور عدد من أعضاء المكتب السياسي للحركة الديمقراطية الآشورية، في مشهدٍ عكس روح التلاحم.

وأسفرت النتائج عن تتويج فريق نهلة بالمركز الأول في فئة الرجال، فيما حقق فريق باختمي المركز الأول في فئة النساء، في نجاحٍ يعكس روح التنافس والعزيمة لدى الفرق المشاركة.

كما ألقى السيد يونان لازار مرخائيل، رئيس الجمعية الآشورية الخيرية العراف، كلمة بهذه المناسبة، أكد فيها أن تسمية البطولة تأتي وفاءً لذكرى الراحل نرسي ديفيد، وأن الهدف منها يتجاوز المنافسة الرياضية ليشمل جمع الشباب، ودعمهم، وفتح آفاق جديدة أمامهم للتعبير عن قدراتهم واستثمار طاقاتهم.

وقد ألقى السيد روبرت نوزاد سكرتير اتحاد الطلبة والشبيبة الكلدواشوري كلمة بالمناسبة، قدم فيها الشكر لجهود الجمعية الآشورية في دعم نشاطات الاتحاد، وخاصة بطولة نرسي ديفيد.

وفي ختام الحفل، قدمت الجمعية الآشورية الخيرية الدعم للفرق الأربعة المشاركة في المباراة النهائية لكلا الفئتين، حيث جرت مراسم توزيع الجوائز بحضور رئيس الجمعية وبمشاركة عدد من أعضائها، وهم كل من السيد بطرس إيشو مسؤول قسم الإغاثة، والسيد نابليون يوسف مسؤول قسم التعليم السرياني، والسيد ايرميا سركون سكرتير الجمعية، والسيد كوركيس مرقس قسم الإعمار والإعلام في الجمعية، في أجواء احتفالية عكست روح التقدير والاهتمام بالمواهب الرياضية.

واختُتمت الفعالية بتأكيد الأمل في توسيع نطاق المشاركة في النسخ القادمة لتشمل فرقًا من خارج الوطن، بما يعزز جسور التواصل والتعارف بين أبناء شعبنا في الداخل والمهجر.

الجمعية الآشورية الخيرية – العراق تهنئ بانتخاب بطريرك جديد للكنيسة الكلدانية

بفرحٍ كبيرٍ يملؤه الرجاء، تتقدم الجمعية الآشورية الخيرية – العراق بأسمى آيات التهاني والتبريكات إلى غبطة البطريرك مار بولس إميل شمعون نونا، بمناسبة انتخابه بطريركاً جديداً للكنيسة الكلدانية، يوم الأحد الموافق 12 نيسان/أبريل 2026، خلفاً للكاردينال لويس روفائيل ساكو.

إن هذا الحدث المبارك يشكل محطةً مضيئة في مسيرة الكنيسة الكلدانية، وباعث أملٍ متجدد لجميع أبناء شعبنا، لما يحمله من معانٍ عميقة في تعزيز روح الوحدة وترسيخ الأخوّة والمحبة بين أبناء الكنيسة، في ظل التحديات التي تمر بها منطقتنا.

وإذ نبارك هذا الاختيار، نعبّر عن تمنياتنا الصادقة لغبطته بالتوفيق في أداء رسالته الروحية والإنسانية، وأن يكون صوته صوت وحدة وسلام، يجمع القلوب ويعزز التلاقي بين أبناء الكنيسة، ويسهم في ترسيخ قيم المحبة والتسامح والعمل المشترك.

في الذكرى الخامسة لرحيل المهندس الراحل آشور سركون أسخريا
الجمعية الآشورية الخيرية – العراق تستذكر مسيرته وتحيي إرثه الإنساني الخالد

بمناسبة مرور الذكرى الخامسة على رحيل القامة الإنسانية والقومية البارزة، المهندس الراحل آشور سركون أسخريا، الرئيس السابق للجمعية الآشورية الخيرية – العراق، الذي وافته المنية في 9 نيسان 2021، قامت الجمعية الآشورية الخيرية – العراق بزيارةٍ إلى مرقده الأخير، ترأسها السيد يونان لازار مرخائيل، رئيس الجمعية، يرافقه عدد من أعضاء الهيئة الإدارية، حيث جرى وضع أكاليل الزهور على قبر الفقيد.

وفي هذه المناسبة، تستحضر الجمعية مسيرة الراحل، الذي لم يكن مجرد إداري أو مسؤول، بل كان رمزًا حقيقيًا للعطاء الإنساني والعمل المخلص. وقد شكّلت فترة رئاسته للجمعية محطةً مفصلية في تاريخها، تجلّت خلالها أسمى معاني الالتزام بقضايا أبناء شعبنا، وأسهمت في ترسيخ دور الجمعية الإنساني وتعزيز حضورها المجتمعي.

لقد كان الراحل آشور سركون أسخريا نموذجًا في الإخلاص والتفاني، ورجلًا ترك بصمة واضحة في كل ميدان خدم فيه، وستبقى إنجازاته شاهدة على مسيرةٍ حافلةٍ بالعطاء، وذكرى حيّة في وجدان أبناء شعبه، تُلهم الأجيال القادمة للسير على خطاه.

وفي ختام الزيارة، عبّر الحاضرون عن تقديرهم العميق لمسيرته، مؤكدين التزامهم بمواصلة نهجه النبيل في خدمة الإنسان وغرس قيم العطاء والانتماء.

‏On the Fifth Anniversary of the Passing of Engineer the Late Ashur Sargon Eskrya
The AAS Aid-Iraq Remembers His Legacy and Humanitarian Contributions

On the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the passing of the prominent humanitarian and national figure, Engineer the Late Ashur Sargon Eskrya, former President of the Assyrian Aid Society – Iraq, who passed away on April 9, 2021, the Assyrian Aid Society – Iraq visited his final resting place, led by Mr. Younan Lazar Markhail, President of the Society, accompanied by several members of the administrative board, where wreaths of flowers were laid on his grave.

On this occasion, the Society recalled the life and work of the late engineer, who was not merely an administrator or official, but a true symbol of humanitarian dedication and selfless service. His tenure as President marked a pivotal chapter in the history of the Society, demonstrating the highest commitment to the causes of our people and strengthening the Society’s humanitarian role and community presence.

Engineer Ashur Sargon Eskrya was a model of sincerity and dedication, leaving a clear imprint in every field he served. His achievements remain a testament to a life filled with giving, and his memory continues to inspire future generations to follow in his footsteps.

At the conclusion of the visit, attendees expressed their deep appreciation for his legacy, affirming their commitment to continue following his noble path in serving humanity and fostering the values of giving and belonging.

AAS-Iraq Participates in Commemorating the Anfal Martyrs in the Village of Gandkosa

In a scene where sorrow blended with loyalty, the Assyrian Aid Society-Iraq participated in the annual commemoration of the Anfal martyrs in the village of Gandkosa, attended by local residents and representatives of national and social institutions.

Representing AASI on this occasion were Mr. Younan Lazar Mikhail, President of the Assyrian Aid Society-Iraq, and Mr. Patros Isho, Head of the Relief Department, reaffirming AASI’s ongoing commitment to standing alongside our people, especially during occasions that preserve collective memory and honor the sacrifices of the martyrs.

The ceremony began with a divine liturgy held at the village church in memory of the martyrs, where prayers were offered with reverence for their souls, reflecting the values of faith, resilience, and sacrifice. The event also witnessed broad participation from various institutions, expressing unity and a deep sense of belonging.

Following the liturgy, attendees proceeded to the Anfal Martyrs Memorial, where wreaths were laid and prayers were recited once again, in a solemn moment of respect honoring the sacrifices of the villagers who fell victim to the Anfal campaigns and mass graves in 1988, as well as those who lost their lives defending their land and existence.

AASI’s participation in this occasion represents a message of deep loyalty to the martyrs and a renewed commitment to keeping their sacrifices alive in the memory of future generations.

The ceremony concluded in an atmosphere of solidarity and unity, reflecting the strong bond among our people and their firm belief that honoring the martyrs is a continuation of their enduring legacy.

الجمعية الآشورية الخيرية – العراق تشارك في إحياء ذكرى شهداء الأنفال في قرية گندكوسا

في مشهدٍ امتزجت فيه مشاعر الحزن بالوفاء، شاركت الجمعية الآشورية الخيرية – العراق في مراسم إحياء الذكرى السنوية لشهداء الأنفال في قرية گندكوسا، بحضور جمعٍ من أبناء القرية وممثلي المؤسسات القومية والاجتماعية.

ومثّل الجمعية في هذه المناسبة كلٌّ من السيد يونان لازار مرخائيل، رئيس الجمعية، والسيد بطرس إيشو، مسؤول قسم الإغاثة، تأكيدًا على التزامها الدائم بالوقوف إلى جانب أبناء شعبنا، ولا سيما في المناسبات التي تستحضر الذاكرة الجماعية وتضحيات الشهداء.

واستُهلت المراسم بإقامة قداس إلهي في كنيسة القرية على أرواح الشهداء، حيث ارتفعت الصلوات بخشوع لراحة نفوسهم، واستُحضرت معاني الإيمان والصمود والتضحية. كما شهدت الفعالية مشاركة واسعة من مختلف المؤسسات، في تعبير عن وحدة الصف وعمق الانتماء.

وعقب القداس، توجّه الحضور إلى نصب شهداء الأنفال، حيث جرت مراسم وضع أكاليل الزهور ورفع الصلوات، في وقفة إجلال استذكرت تضحيات أبناء القرية الذين ارتقوا ضحايا لعمليات الأنفال والمقابر الجماعية عام 1988، إلى جانب من سقطوا دفاعًا عن أرضهم ووجودهم.

إن مشاركة الجمعية في هذه المناسبة تجسّد وفاءً لدماء الشهداء، وتجديدًا للعهد بأن تبقى تضحياتهم حيّة في وجدان الأجيال.

واختُتمت المراسم في أجواء من التآخي، عكست وحدة أبناء شعبنا وإيمانهم الراسخ بأن الوفاء لتضحيات الشهداء هو امتدادٌ لرسالتهم الخالدة.

بمناسبة حلول عيد القيامة المجيد، تهنئ الجمعية الآشورية الخيرية – العراق أبناء شعبنا المسيحي في العراق والعالم، بأسمى آيات التهاني وأصدق التبريكات، سائلين الله أن يعيد هذه المناسبة المباركة على الجميع بالخير والبركة والفرح المتجدد.

إن عيد القيامة هو عيد النور والحياة، وعنوان الرجاء الذي لا ينطفئ، حيث تتجدد فيه معاني الانتصار على الألم، وتزهر القلوب بالإيمان والمحبة، ويشرق الأمل في النفوس بمستقبل أفضل تسوده الطمأنينة والسلام.

ويجسد عيد أكيتو عمق حضارتنا الممتدة لآلاف السنين، بوصفه رمزاً للتجدد والبداية الجديدة، ودلالة حية على صمود شعبنا وتمسكه بهويته الثقافية واللغوية والتراثية، رغم كل ما مرّ به من تحديات عبر التاريخ.

AAS-Iraq Continues Supporting Assyrian Education by Paying Instructors’ Salaries Starting January 2026

Amid the challenges facing the education sector, the Assyrian Aid Society-Iraq continues its ongoing support for the educational process, based on its firm belief that education is the cornerstone for building individuals and preserving identity.

In this context, the AASI paid the salaries of 20 instructors, in addition to 33 newly contracted instructors for January of the 2025–2026 academic year, brought in to address the shortage of teaching staff following the retirement of several teachers, particularly in Assyrian schools.

This project was implemented with the support of the Assyrian Aid Society of America and the Assyrian Cultural Foundation. The support also included covering transportation costs for instructors traveling from within Duhok city to schools located outside the city, ensuring they could continue fulfilling their educational mission despite the challenges.

The AASI imphasizes that supporting Assyrian education is both a humanitarian and cultural responsibility, contributing to the preservation of language and identity and enhancing students’ stability in their academic journey.

في ظل التحديات التي يواجهها قطاع التعليم، تواصل الجمعية الآشورية الخيرية – العراق دعمها المستمر للعملية التعليمية، انطلاقًا من إيمانها بأن التعليم هو الركيزة الأساسية لبناء الإنسان والحفاظ على الهوية.

وفي هذا الإطار، قامت الجمعية بصرف أجور 20 محاضرًا، إضافةً إلى 33 محاضرًا جديدًا لشهر كانون الثاني من العام الدراسي 2025–2026، ممن تم الاستعانة بهم لسدّ النقص في الكوادر التدريسية بعد إحالة عدد من المدرسين إلى التقاعد، لا سيما في مدارس التعليم السرياني.

وجاء تنفيذ هذا المشروع بدعم من الجمعية الآشورية الخيرية في أمريكا والمؤسسة الثقافية الآشورية، حيث شمل أيضاً تغطية أجور النقل للمحاضرين الذين يتنقلون من داخل مدينة دهوك إلى المدارس الواقعة خارجها، دعمًا لاستمرارهم في أداء رسالتهم التعليمية رغم التحديات.

وتؤكد الجمعية أن دعم التعليم السرياني هو مسؤولية إنسانية وثقافية، تسهم في حماية اللغة والهوية، وتعزز استقرار الطلبة في مسيرتهم العلمية.
