The Sbey Research Center’s second policy brief, The Iran-U.S.-Israeli War: A Survival Strategy for the Kurdistan Regional Government, examines the growing security, political, and economic risks facing the Kurdistan Region amid escalating regional conflict. Sustained attacks on critical infrastructure, fragile defense capacities, and heavy dependence on oil revenues have placed the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in a highly vulnerable position. The brief explores how these conditions increase the risk of economic disruption, prolonged instability, and the possible transformation of the region into a permanent battlefield.
Rather than framing the crisis as an opportunity for strategic gain, the brief approaches it as a survival challenge shaped by structural weaknesses, internal political divisions, and uncertain external support. It emphasizes the importance of de-escalation, political unity, civilian protection, and contingency planning to preserve stability and reduce risk under conditions of uncertainty.
