Highlight of the Week 🌿

We recently had the opportunity to visit the workplace of Sakthi Selvaraj, a Psychiatric Social Worker at the Rehabilitation Home for People with Mental Illness, Ooty — and it was truly inspiring.

Sakthi is a visually impaired champion and a proud student of TARVI (Training & Resource Centre for the Visually Impaired) at Kinder Trust. Through TARVI, he has been empowered with computer skills, mobility training, and the confidence to navigate life independently.

Seeing him in his professional role, making a meaningful difference in the lives of others, was a powerful reminder of what access, opportunity, and the right support systems can achieve.

Rehab Revival Workshop – A Day of Learning & Hands-on Training

Kinder Trust hosted the Rehab Revival Workshop on 10 March at the Coonoor Club, led by Dr. Sunder Subramaniam, Physiatrist in Physical Medicine, Rehabilitation & Ergonomics.

We had 45 participants , including students from PSG College of Physiotherapy, practitioners from KMF Hospital, Kotagiri, and our physio team from the Kindness Rehabilitation Centre of Excellence.

The workshop featured interactive discussions, knowledge sharing, hands-on training with models, and live demonstrations with patients with different types of disabilities, giving participants valuable clinical insights.

Kinder Trust அமைப்பு மார்ச் 10 அன்று Coonoor Club-ல் “Rehab Revival Workshop” நிகழ்ச்சியை நடத்தியது. இந்த நிகழ்ச்சியை உடல் மருத்துவம் மற்றும் மறுவாழ்வு நிபுணர் டாக்டர் சுந்தர் சுப்பிரமணியம் வழிநடத்தினார்.

👩‍⚕️ மொத்தம் 45 இயன்முறை மருத்துவர்கள் மற்றும் மாணவர்கள் கலந்து கொண்டனர். இதில்

World NGO Day was meaningfully celebrated at ATC, Ooty, organized by the Nilgiri District Social Leaders Federation. The event brought together NGOs from across the Nilgiris, united by a shared commitment to social welfare and inclusive development.

All participating organisations were honoured for their dedication, selfless service, and continued efforts toward uplifting communities.

A special highlight was the tree plantation drive — a powerful symbol of environmental responsibility and our collective commitment to a greener, sustainable future.

Together, we reaffirm our responsibility to build an inclusive, just, and environmentally conscious society.

நீலகிரி மாவட்ட சமூக தலைவர்கள் கூட்டமைப்பு ஏற்பாடு செய்த உலக தன்னார்வ அமைப்புகள் தின விழா, ஊட்டியில் உள்ள ATC வளாகத்தில் சிறப்பாக நடைபெற்றது.

நீலகிரி மாவட்டம் முழுவதும் செயல்படும் பல தன்னார்வ அமைப்புகள் இதில் பங்கேற்று, சமூக நலத்திற்காக அவர்கள் ஆற்றிவரும் அர்ப்பணிப்பு மற்றும் சோர்வற்ற
சேவைக்காக கௌரவிக்கப்பட்டனர்.

இந்த விழாவின் முக்கிய அம்சமாக மரக்கன்றுகள் நடுதல் நிகழ்ச்சி நடைபெற்றது. இது சுற்றுச்சூழல் பாதுகாப்பிற்கான எங்கள் உறுதியையும், பசுமையான நிலைத்த எதிர்காலத்திற்கான ஒருங்கிணைந்த பார்வையையும் பிரதிபலிக்கிறது.

With support from Kinder Trust through the RISE Trust, Manisha has been studying at Kings Kids School, Coonoor for the past three years.

As she prepares to move to senior school, she is learning computer typing to strengthen her independence and overcome fine motor challenges.

This is what inclusion looks like — not sympathy, but opportunity.

✨ A heartwarming highlight from last week! ✨

We were delighted to welcome the Rotary Interact Club from Mrs. Bullmore’s School, Coonoor, along with their coordinator, to our centre.

During their visit, the students interacted with our Managing Trustee, Mrs. Diana Cyrus Bharucha, and met the new batch of students at TARVI — our Training & Resource Centre that imparts computer skills, mobility training, and life skills to persons with visual impairment.

Deeply moved by what they saw, the children surprised us with a heartfelt donation of ₹1,200 from their own pocket money.

Kinder Trust, in collaboration with Aravind Eye Hospital, successfully conducted a free eye screening camp for school students at the Cantonment Board Secondary School, Wellington, on 30th January 2026.
