World Social Work Day 2026

World Social Work Day was observed through the joint initiative of Shreyas, the Kerala Association of Professional Social Workers (KAPS) Wayanad chapter and the Department of Social Work and NSS studentsof Alphonsa arts and science college, Sulthan Bathery. The programme was inaugurated by Mr. O. P. Abraham, Ombudsman of MGNREGA and Regional Secretary of KAPS, and presided over by Fr. David Alinkal, Executive Director of Shreyas and President of KAPS Wayanad chapter. On the occasion, Dr. P. Lakshmanan was honoured for earning a Doctorate in Political science at the age of 65. Around 60 social work students participated,a signature campaign and a session by Dr.P Lakshmanan was also conducted as part of the observance.
