The rain returned… and with it, hope.
After seasons of drought, hunger, and despair, communities across Africa are reclaiming their farms, their food, and their future. Thanks to improved climate conditions but the balance is still fragile. We have a lot to do.

“When Rain Returned” : this a short video on - , reminding us that : Zero Hunger is within reach…
If we choose to act.
If we choose to care.
If we choose to be part of change system.
If we choose to be part of climate action.

🌍 World’s Largest , A23a, Is Moving - Threatening Wildlife 🐧

The biggest iceberg on Earth is once again on the move, on a path that could cause it to collide with South Georgia, an island in the South Atlantic Ocean. As the BBC reported, the iceberg could ground and break into smaller pieces if it hits the island. As of the morning of Jan. 23, the iceberg is about 173 miles (280 kilometers) from South Georgia. If the iceberg hits and breaks down, it could disrupt feeding access and become deadly for local wildlife. As the world’s largest iceberg, A23a measures around 1,500 square miles and weighs nearly one trillion metric tons. The iceberg previously broke free from its anchored location between South America and Antarctica in November 2023. Prior to that, it had broken off from the Filchner-Ronne Ice Shelf in 1986 before becoming stuck near Antarctica.

🌍 Nitrous Oxide: The Overlooked Climate Threat 🌍

Source: /Saul Loeb

SDG: 13 & 15

Nitrous oxide, a potent greenhouse gas, accelerates global warming 270 times faster than carbon dioxide and depletes the ozone layer. Agriculture, particularly synthetic fertilisers, contributes 75% of its emissions, with industrial activities and fossil fuels adding the rest. Despite being the third-most prevalent greenhouse gas, it is often overshadowed by carbon dioxide and methane. Experts stress that reducing nitrous oxide emissions is crucial to meeting Paris Agreement goals. Solutions include improved agricultural practices and industrial emission controls, which could enhance air quality, protect public health, and combat climate change effectively.

🌍🔥 Climate-Driven Wildfires Demand Prevention Over Suppression 🔥🌍

Source: UN News

SDG: 13

The surge in intense wildfires, fuelled by climate change, calls for a global shift towards prevention. Experts like Amy Duchelle of the stress that reliance on suppression is unsustainable. Wildfires affect 340–370 million hectares annually, releasing carbon dioxide and worsening the climate crisis. The FAO promotes integrated fire management through the "five R's"—review, risk reduction, readiness, response, and recovery. Investments in prevention, public education, and cross-sector cooperation can mitigate devastating fires and reduce long-term costs, addressing this escalating global challenge.
