Dance workshop, post 3 of 3
The Balmitras were attending the dance workshop every day for a couple of hours, for 5 days.
They were happy to perform the traditional song, which you must have seen already. But they also wanted to perform a popular ‘koli’ song. Soha Karyekar followed the same strategy. The boys (and a few girls) picked the song, the steps, and she helped them align everything.
Then, she gave them a rhythm pattern with several changeovers, and helped them choose the steps. All of them displayed an innate sense of rhythm. All they had to do was be in sync. One of them became a leader and called out the change. The rest followed.
“The dance workshop helped us relieve the stress of daily routine. Instead of making free movements, we learnt to pay attention to the steps and coordination,” says Niket.
“We were able to use our creativity while choreographing the songs. It gave us confidence and helped us appreciate the meaning of team work,” says Sanket Kathole.
All in all, the workshop was a great stress-buster for everyone, and they are asking for more!!
