A Delhi protester has approached the Supreme Court seeking a nationwide ban on the use of pellet guns during civilian protests, alleging that he suffered a serious eye injury after being struck by pellets during the recent demonstrations in the national capital.

The petition contends that the use of pellet guns against civilians violates fundamental rights and seeks directions to prohibit their deployment for crowd-control measures.

It also calls for appropriate guidelines and accountability concerning the use of force during public protests.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has ordered the immediate suspension of eight officials of the Directorate of Samagra Shiksha over alleged irregularities in the procurement and approval of library books.
A high-level inquiry committee has been constituted, with Ashwani Kumar appointed as the Inquiry Officer to investigate the matter. The committee has been directed to submit its report within 30 days.
The administration has also ordered the withdrawal of the controversial books and initiated further disciplinary action against those found responsible.
