INECC is an open, flexible and democratic network. The INECC team currently comprises 16 active members. INECC works through its partners who are present across key ecosystems in India: Coastal, Himalayan, Arid, Semi-arid, Forest and Urban ecosystems. Its outreach is 150 organisations and CBOs based in various locations across the country. Laya Resource Center, an NGO based in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, functions as the Secretariat for the Network’s operations.

What does it really take to build climate ready organisations?

The answer goes beyond funding.

Across communities, organisations are already doing incredible work to respond to climate change. But recognising that work as climate action, telling those stories clearly, and connecting them to bigger climate conversations can make all the difference.

That's why INECC, along with SCINDeA and ASPBAE - Adult Education and Lifelong Learning in the Asia South Pacific, brought together a Climate Readiness Learning Journey for civil society organisations working towards meaningful climate action.
Facilitated by Nandhitha Babuji (Organisational Capacity Building Expert), Rohan Chawla (Climate Finance Expert), and Devika Dinesh (Communications Expert), the learning journey explored climate communication, systems thinking, Theory of Change, ethical AI, and proposal development. More importantly, we reflected on how community knowledge and lived experience can be translated into stronger climate narratives and more impactful programmes.

Because climate readiness starts with recognising the work that's already happening.

That’s the record-breaking amount of climate finance tracked globally in 2024. But if the money is flowing, why are local communities still struggling to access it?

The answer isn't just "more money." It’s a systemic problem.
Our team at INECC has been tracking the recent SB64 sessions in Bonn, and the takeaways are crucial before we head to COP31:
- The Access Gap: 80% of climate finance is still trapped in the world’s largest economies.
- ⁠The Debt Trap: Much of this "finance" comes in the form of loans, adding to the debt burden of those already struggling to adapt to climate change.
- ⁠The Systemic Web: Finance doesn't exist in a vacuum. It’s tied to trade, the speed of the just transition, and how we build climate intelligence.

At INECC, we are done looking at finance in isolation. We are examining how these systems connect finance, adaptation, trade, and resilience with communities at the centre.

We want to move from high-level global pledges to accessible, transparent, and locally-driven action.

Think of climate finance like an ecosystem, not a single pot of money.

To fund a transition that actually works, we need different types of capital to play different roles.

Here is the blueprint for a functioning climate finance system:
- The Spark (Early Stage): Philanthropy and public funds building the foundation.
- The Take-off (Derisking): Blended finance and concessional loans that make new ideas possible.
- The Scale (Growth): Green bonds and VC capital that turn projects into industry standards.
- The Protection (Resilience): Insurance and carbon markets that reward performance and secure communities.
- The Enablers (The Bridge): Technical assistance - the training and support that turns an idea into a bankable project.

At INECC, we believe in the Power of Proximity. Finance is most effective when it’s decentralised, when the people who understand their ecosystem best are the ones designing the solutions and managing the capital.

Across 2 Online Learning Labs and a 2-Day Residential Lab, we’ll dive into:

The Greenovation Urban Climate Resilience Challenge is now live.

As cities across India face rising heat, water stress, and increasing climate risks, the pressure on livelihoods, public health, and infrastructure continues to grow. Yet, the gap between these challenges and scalable, on-ground solutions remains significant.

We see climate innovation as a critical pathway to bridge this gap.
