Pitcher Plants / 🐵 Monkey Cups🐒/ Carnivorous Plants/ Insectivorous Plants (Nepenthes spp. Family: Nepenthaceae):
[8/12, 8:26 AM] Dr. Rama Murty Mantha: Leaves green, with chlorophyll, synthesize carbohydrates. Pitcher plants need insects mainly for nutrients, not food for energy. 🪲🌿
They grow in nutrient-poor soils, especially low in nitrogen. Insects trapped in the pitcher are digested, providing nitrogen, phosphorus and other minerals that help the plant grow.
Sunlight gives them energy; insects give them essential nutrients. They trap 🌱🪰 usually insects, but the largest may catch small vertebrates, such as "frogs, birds, and small mammals".

కొండ గోగు / Buttercup Tree / Yellow Silk-Cotton Tree (Cochlospermum religiosum, Family: Bixaceae). A small deciduous ornamental tree native to South East Asia, known for its bright yellow, buttercup-like flowers that are used as temple offerings, hence its name. It produces a cotton-like fiber from its seed pods, and has various traditional medicinal uses.
The wood or bark of freshly cut trees contains yellow-orange or golden coloured compounds called 'Naringenin'. It is a Natural Dye to color cotton fabrics and clothing.
Buttercup Tree flowers require "buzz pollination" (sonication). The carpenter bee must grab the flower and vibrate its flight muscles at a specific frequency to force the pollen out of the pores in the tube-like stamens.

Wow! A very beautiful Jewel beetle visited our Biodiversity Park; spotted on Sitamma Asoka Tree (Saraca asoka) in the Sacred Groves Section. These beetles are very strong insects, belonging to the Coleoptera order. This jewel appears to be a Lampetis spp. known for its vibrant, metallic green and bronze colouration. These are highly valued by collectors for their iridescent colours😍
