Warm Rotaract Greetings!!!
Bakrid, also known as Eid ul-Adha, meaning the “Festival of Sacrifice,” is a festival that symbolizes faith, sacrifice, compassion, and devotion. Celebrated on May 28th this year, it traces its origins to the story of Prophet Ibrahim’s unwavering faith and willingness to sacrifice his son in submission to Allah’s command, before Allah replaced his son with an animal for sacrifice as a reward for his devotion and obedience. The festival also coincides with the annual Hajj pilgrimage in Mecca, bringing millions together in a spirit of unity and humanity.
The observance begins with special Eid prayers followed by Qurbani, where the meat is shared with family, relatives, and those in need, reflecting the values of generosity and togetherness.
RACGVP celebrates Eid ul-Adha, honoring the spirit of faith, sacrifice, compassion, and unity that connects communities across the world.
