Founded in 1993, Blossom Trust is a grassroots women-led organisation operating in Tamil Nadu, India, with over 28 years of experience in women's empowerment and community development. At Blossom, we are committed to changing the narrative of women from disadvantaged and marginalised to women as agents of change and pillars of development, creating opportunities for them to uplift their lives and

empowering them to empower entire communities. Hence our vision, women at the heart of community development, establishing thriving, equitable and empowered communities across Tamil Nadu. With our mission of promoting women-led development and building resilient communities, we do so through collective networks, collaboration and awareness. Blossom's projects and programs focus on patient networks and health advocacy, targeting individuals with HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Diabetes; women's rights and inclusive welfare; economic empowerment and microfinance; agriculture and rural development.

Project RISE (Rights, Inclusion & Social Empowerment for Fisherwomen), supported by the Azim Premji Foundation, is a project that we are incredibly proud of! 🐟🎣🚺

We are currently operating across 36 fishing villages in the Ramanathapuram district in Tamil Nadu, India. This intervention is dedicated to reducing social and economic exclusion among vulnerable fisherwomen by facilitating direct access to vital government social protection schemes. As a result, 2,920 individuals have been successfully registered for health insurance, ration cards, PAN and more. Now, we focus on fostering female leadership, with 1000+ fisherwomen mobilizing into an independent collective to advocate for their rights in areas where women-only associations did not previously exist.

🌸 Our latest project, WEPSITE - the Women's Empowerment Programmes for Social Improvement through Training and Education, is funded by the CMS foundation.
