Letting them go and lead their own lives!

At Sristi, we have initiated a group home for young adults with intellectual disabilities. Our aim is to help them live independently by fostering their skills in domestic tasks, life skills, independent living, and job skills. Additionally, we encourage their integration into society and provide job support, enabling them to lead their lives with minimal assistance. We are incredibly proud of how they have transformed and taken control of their lives. An important lesson we've learned is the need for confidence and trust in their abilities. As parents, adopting an attitude of letting them go is crucial; overprotection can hinder their independence.

Exciting News! We are thrilled to share that we presented our research paper on "Compassionate Connection: Exploring Care Practices at Sristi Village" at IIT Hyderabad.

At Sristi, we are dedicated to researching and generating knowledge in the field of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. Our collaboration with the Tata Institute of Social Science has been a crucial part of this journey.

Guided by experts Dr. Srilatha Juva from TISS and Dr. Siva Mathiyazhagan from the University of Pennsylvania, alongside our in-house Research Associate Krishnanunni.C.U, we are actively making strides in our research.

The event was a fantastic experience, filled with insights from global academicians. We are grateful for the positive comments and support from the academic community. Stay tuned for more updates on our impactful research journey!
