St. Paul Sangham, Vankuru Village, Krishna District stands with Child Marriage Free India!

Every girl deserves education, safety, and the freedom to dream. Every boy deserves time to grow before taking on adult responsibilities. That’s why our sangham pledges: no child marriage in Vankuru Village.
✅ We will report suspected child marriages to authorities.
✅ We will support girls to stay in school and complete their studies.
✅ We will work with parents, youth, and leaders to change norms and protect children.
Child marriage is illegal in India: girls under 18 and boys under 21 cannot marry. Together, let’s make Vankuru a “Bal Vivah Mukt Gram” and contribute to a Child Marriage Free India by 2030.

As part of the Global Weekend to End Child Marriages, Vasavya Mahila Mandali, NTR Collectorate and the *Endowment Department* held a workshop in NTR District.

Collector Dr. G. Lakshmisha:

* FIRs are being filed against child marriages
* Mandatory Marriage Registers + regular EO monitoring
* Child marriages fully banned in temples; public notices displayed

— Faith leaders of Nandigama Constituency, NTR District
Vasavya Mahila Mandali and the District Women Development & Child Welfare Department convened Church Pastors, Purohits, Minority Khazis, and Women Protection Secretaries at the MPDO Office, Nandigama for a focused seminar on preventing child marriage.
Their pledge to communities:
Verify age documents before fixing or officiating any marriage
Refuse to conduct ceremonies if the girl is under 18 or the boy under 21
Counsel families to keep children in school and safe from early marriage
Report suspected child marriages to authorities and Child Helpline 1098 or VMM Helpline 7702737964

In Patapadu village, religious leaders from the Church came together for an awareness program on “Child Marriage Free Bharat”, calling on families to say NO to child marriage and YES to education, health, and equal opportunities for every girl and boy.
Key messages shared:
Child marriage is a violation of children’s rights and the law
Girls should marry only after 18, boys after 21
Education and skill training are the real “dowry” for a bright future
