The organization is presently concentrated in 10 Gram Panchayats i.e. Sarai Dangari, Mudadeo, Kurahua, Madhopur, Chhitauni kot, Betawar, Karsana, Bachhaw, Bandepur and Delhna of Kashi Vidyapeeth block of Varanasi district. We have organized the weaker section women of the society as community based organization (CBOs) in the name of Nari Sangh with the support of Sir Dorabji Tata Trust-SDTT, Mumbai in the year 2011 on words for implementation of the Empowering Rural Women - ERW Programme. The concrete outcomes of the program is number of women in Nari Sangh became 1687 women and above all 119 CBOs women have emerged as community leaders. They are effective in advocacy on right to food, right to work, right to information, and organizing open meeting of gram sabha on regular basis. Most of the families are belonging to scheduled caste followed by backward class. Most of them are landless or few are having less than 1 bigha land. Families are depended upon minimum and subsistent labour wage earned near city. Women are the major bread earner of the family and she has enough time after completion of household activities but due to illiteracy she can’t get any proper employment for their livelihood. Women of Nari sangh are quite aware of their rights and entitlement. They know the concerned departments and their officials and related programs and regulated schemes of the government. Now they want a suitable work to contribute in the family for better livelihood. It will appeal and make them confident as they are earning member of the family and support better education and health for their children and family members. As per our discussion with CBO leaders they are willing to work in related areas of agricultural activities like vegetable cultivation, floriculture, and cash crops production etc and agriculture allied activities like goatry, dairy etc. As CBOs have decided to associate with NABARD in form of Joint Liability Group (JLG). In this scheme they can do all aforesaid activities with the support of NABARD. Finally, last but not the least we think NABARD may provide an opportunity to these poor families in order to get better standard of living and livelihood.
