Persecution, conflict, and violence have forced millions to seek asylum for safety and protection. However, outsourced borders and offshore processing have weakened the principle of non-refoulement, created barriers to access to justice, and exacerbated the lack of equitable burden-sharing, leaving millions trapped in a cycle of unending hardship and culminating in the eclipse of humanitarian concerns by security considerations.
Reflecting on these pressing humanitarian concerns, Rhetorica presents the agenda for the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) at BHU's Official NYP 5.0 :

Asylum seekers deserve dignity, justice, and protection - not suspicion or exclusion as criminals. States must balance their dual responsibility of securing national borders while upholding humanitarian principles, non-refoulement, access to justice, and equitable burden-sharing.
