Our Poshan Vatika Initiative aims to promote household and community nutrition through the cultivation of nutrient-rich vegetables and fruits in the available spaces of villages. As part of this initiative, vegetable seed conservation emphasizes the preservation of locally adapted and traditional vegetable varieties that are rich in nutrients and resilient to local climatic conditions.

During the Kharif season, 55 women from Benipur Khurd village (Varanasi) successfully initiated Poshan Vatika by cultivating a variety of vegetables in their household and community gardens. After the harvest, they have preserved seeds from their produce to be sown in the upcoming season, ensuring sustainability and self-reliance in nutritious food production.
