Voluntary Nature Conservancy/ Vidyanagar Nature Club VNC, has been honoured with the prestigious T N Khoshoo Memorial Award by ATREE ! This recognition is a testament to our dedication and hard work.

Thank you for your contributions to our mission. VNC has been working in the field of environment awareness and nature conservation, right from its inception from 1988. Within two decades of its existence VNC must have introduced thousands of young Indians to importance of environment protection. As a NGO VNC has been instrumental in taking up various environmental issues like pollution, tree felling, water conservation etc. through well trained network of volunteers. VNC is accredited NGO / NPO by GEF (Global Environmental Facility, Washington DC, USA), it has also received funding / support from GEA, (Global Environmental Actions, Tokyo Japan) VNC is recipient of grants from Rufford Foundation, UK & Idea Wild USA. VNC is registered as Public Charitable Trust in India and as a 501(c)(3) Charity in USA.. VNC's Activities can be broadly divided under three heads - Environment Education, Conservation & Research, Awareness & Advocacy. Registrations are now open for the Charotar Crocodile Count 2027!

Join us for the Charotar Crocodile Count (CCC), a citizen-science initiative by Voluntary Nature Conservancy, bringing together people with a shared interest in crocodiles, wetlands and conservation.

Spend three days in the Charotar landscape learning about Mugger Crocodiles (Crocodylus palustris), participating in field surveys, interacting with local communities, and experiencing a remarkable landscape where people and crocodiles have shared space for generations.

8–10 January 2027

We’re Hiring: Research Biologist

VNC is looking for a motivated, field-oriented Research Biologist to contribute to wildlife research and conservation projects involving crocodiles, Forest Owlet, otters, wildlife habitats, and human–wildlife interactions.

This is a highly field-based role for someone who enjoys working across forests, wetlands, rivers, villages, and other project landscapes while combining ecological research, community engagement, and conservation action.

Position: Full-time / Project-based
Joining: November 2026 onwards
Experience: 1–2 years preferred; strong fresh postgraduates may also be considered
Last date to apply: 30 September 2026

On September 11th, Voluntary Nature Conservancy hosted the Children Crocodile Festival 2026! Students from fifteen schools joined us to learn how to share our ecosystems peacefully with Mugger crocodiles. Through creative conservation skits, interactive games, and hands-on clay modeling, these young minds turned fear into fascination.

World Vulture Awareness Day | A Story from Central Gujarat

In Khambhat, Anand district, vulture conservation began at the grassroots around 2009. Volunteers and organizations like Team VNC and JCT worked with livestock owners, veterinarians, farmers, carcass handlers, palm workers and schoolchildren to build awareness and support.

A key milestone came in 2013, when VNC’s engagement with Amul’s Veterinary Department helped discontinue medicines harmful to vultures.

Years of community involvement have transformed Khambhat into an important year-round feeding and habitat area, supporting resident and migratory vultures.

This recovery reminds us that lasting conservation begins with patient grassroots work.
