Learning Space Foundation

Learning Space Foundation We offer an integrated form of Learning and development to children in remote villages of India to empowering the child, teachers, parents and community.

Learning Space Foundation was founded in 2006 in Ganeshpuri, Vajreshwari, to better Education and Livelihood in rural communities. We started as a small group offering creative learning programs to the children of rural communities in the neighbouring villages. Through the years, we have evolved into an NGO that offers a holistic approach to education. We offer child-centred education at the early

and primary levels, computer-aided learning for middle school students and essential life skills for high school students. And for the rural educated youth, we offer capacity building programs to sharpen social and practical skills in them to be able to participate successfully in a professional environment. With over 12 years of experience, Learning Space Foundation has grown from a small NGO focussed on creative learning, to being one of the primary external support systems for rural education initiatives in Z.P. Schools of Bhiwandi, and Vada Talukas of Thane district.

A New Chapter Begins at Saraswati Ganpat Patil Vidyalaya: Building Futures, One Skill at a Time

On the auspicious morning of Thursday, August 7th, we held the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony to mark the beginning of Phase 2 construction at Saraswati Ganpat Patil Vidyalaya at Kelthan in Vajreshwari, on the outskirts of Mumbaiβ€” a transformative step towards empowering rural youth through skill-based learning.

This new building will house a Skills Development Centre on the ground floor, designed for students who have completed their 10th Std, to train in vocational skills such as:

πŸ’„ Beautician & Skin Care
🧡 Sewing & Fashion Design
🎨 Painting & Carpentry
πŸ”§ Mobile & Electronics Repair

The first floor will be dedicated to academic and digital readiness, with a Science Lab, Computer Lab, Library, AV Hall, and a Conference Room – creating a comprehensive ecosystem for learning and career preparedness.

During the event, students from 8th and 9th Grades of Saraswati Ganpat Patil Vidyalaya enthusiastically showcased their growing skills in mobile phone repair, basic electrical circuits, paramedical care, sewing & fashion design, and even turning harmful plastic waste into creative decorations. Their confidence and creativity were a powerful reminder of the immense potential that lies in our rural youth β€” waiting to be nurtured through the right opportunities.

The event was graced by:

✨ Rajiv Shah, MD, Everest Food Products Pvt Ltd.
✨ Noopur Desai, President, Rotary Club of Bombay Pier
✨ Shri K.G. Patil, Chairman, Devghar Shikshan Vibhaag
✨ Nitin Orayan, Founder, Learning Space Foundation - Maharashtra – the key organizer of the initiative & Jamshed Banaji Chief Architect at Banaji & Associates, and Trustee at Learning Space Foundation - Maharashtra

With the generous support of individuals and institutions who care deeply about inclusive education and rural development, this initiative will open up livelihood pathways for youth from Wada, Bhiwandi, Vasai, and surrounding areas – beginning June 2026.

πŸ”— Let this be a call to action: We invite corporate CSR partners, donors, educators, and changemakers to join hands in making rural Skill Education a strong and sustainable pillar for India's future.

When we build institutions of learning, we don’t just build structures – we build lives, purpose, and dignity.

The 'SarvaPrathamik' Shikshan project by LSF is all about fun and learning for rural early and primary learners! They believe in hands-on education, where kids get to participate and learn by doing. They even get to join in and learn about every Indian festival, its significance, and all the fun activities done in the communities, like preparing delicious food and sweets!
Recently, the Sarvaprathamik project team went all out for Diwali Bal-Ananda Divas (Children's Joy Day!) in 17 village schools, giving around 1200 kids the chance to get their hands on paper, cardboard, clay and paint to make dazzling Diwali decorations like diyas and kandeels. The pics here are pretty impressive, showing how much the 3rd and 4th graders got into the festive spirit! But LSF isn't done yet! They'll be running a Diwali workshop for kids later on, keeping the excitement going and bringing out the little artists in everyone!

Learning Space Foundation (LSF) won the best project award for its 'SafeSpace' Girls' Restroom & Sanitation for Rural schools in the category of 'Best Women's Hygiene Project' - the award was presented by the Brand Honchos Group Indian CSR Awards to the Founder at LSF, Shri Nitin Orayan on 7th October evening at Hyatt Centric Hotel New Delhi.

We appeal to the large community of donors and NGOs working in the field of rural school sanitation and menstrual hygiene support to come forward and adopt this very useful project and implement it in many States and districts throughout the country.
Our research in this field has proven results showing that over 90% adolescent school girls in remote rural areas drop out of school or severely lose out on education due to inadequate restroom sanitation facility, so step forward and support the 'Beti Padhao, Beti Bachao' work through this project –

The Universal Sompo General Insurance Co Ltd - (USGIC www.universalsompo.com) has committed it's social responsibility to mainly support rural development through better infrastructure for village schools & colleges, development projects in rural public sanitation and community health, besides other crucial causes.
The social work association of USGIC and Learning Space Foundation (LSF www.learningspace.org.in) started with supporting one such deserving cause in rural areas - The Rural Women's Community Sanitation (RWCS) project was initiated and implemented in the year 2021at Wada Tehsil in Palghar District of Maharashtra - the social initiative was implemented in the form of a well-designed sanitation unit facility in the public offices area in Wada town where 100s of women worked regularly or visited govt. offices. The facility provided a complete sanitation solution in a central workplace to a large number of college girls, female working staff and visiting women of the rural community from over 50 villages around the central spot. The project site was completed and the sanitation unit inaugurated on 29th March 2022.
In the year 2022-23, the social change association of USGIC and LSF has taken up the CSR initiative of building a new school for the flood affected village high school in village Kelthan, near Vajreshwari in the Wada Tehsil.
We, at LSF are deeply grateful to the USGIC for decisively committing their CSR funds to rural education & community health & sanitation, and trust that our endeavour to better rural infrastructure will continue with the same zeal and intent in the near future.
We sincerely appeal to all sections of urban society to step forward to support this initiative of providing the flood affected village high school and it's students a very sturdy & long-lasting new school building, with all high school amenities.
