What does the Bhagavad Gita have to do with the way we live, work and lead today? Quite a lot, as we discovered this evening.
The IIMA Alumni Association – Vadodara Chapter hosted an engaging session with Dr. Asmani Surve exploring the timeless principles of the Bhagavad Gita and their relevance to contemporary life.
What started with a brief introduction quickly evolved into a lively one-and-a-half-hour interaction around karma, conflict management, spirituality, detachment, identity and our relationship with the larger universe.
The discussion moved naturally from philosophy to practice — how do we manage conflict at work and at home? How do we deal with expectations and outcomes? What does detachment really mean? And can these principles actually help us navigate the everyday decisions and dilemmas that make up our own personal and professional Kurukshetras?
The evening was less about a traditional discourse and more about introspection, questions and practical application.
We may not have walked away with all the answers, but we certainly left with more to think about — and perhaps a resolve to do one thing differently tomorrow.
A sincere thank you to Dr. Asmani Surve for an insightful and accessible evening, and to all the alumni who participated so openly in the conversation.
Our Kurukshetras may be different. The wisdom to navigate them may not be.
