Building Resilient Communities Through Awareness & Action
Flood recovery is not only about providing relief—it is about empowering communities with the knowledge and preparedness to face future disasters.
Jivhala Sanstha, in collaboration with Goonj, organized a Cleanliness Drive and Flood Preparedness Awareness Program in Palshi, one of the remote and flood-prone villages in Umarkhed Taluka, Yavatmal District, Maharashtra.
Every monsoon, villages located along the Penganga River across Yavatmal, Hingoli, and Nanded districts experience severe flooding due to heavy rainfall and the release of water from the Isapur Dam. These recurring floods affect thousands of families, damaging homes, livelihoods, and public health.
As part of this initiative, our team worked alongside community members to restore cleanliness in the village and conducted awareness sessions on:
Flood preparedness and emergency response
Safe evacuation procedures
Hygiene and sanitation during and after floods Prevention of water-borne diseases
Safe drinking water and household safety practices
The importance of following official disaster warnings
At Jivhala Sanstha, we believe that community awareness is the first line of defense against disasters. By combining humanitarian assistance with knowledge-sharing and community participation, we can help vulnerable communities become safer, stronger, and more resilient.
We sincerely thank Goonj, the village leaders, volunteers, and community members for their active participation and unwavering support in making this initiative meaningful.
Together, we are not just responding to disasters—we are building resilient communities for a safer tomorrow.
