An Appeal to the Citizens of Udupi.
As you know very well, there are countless problems, litigations and confusions over documents and registration of properties and housing sites in Udupi and other parts of Karnataka.
Trapped in these irregularities, frauds and litigations, an unimaginably huge number of people across the state are suffering for decades. The legal and illegal maze is so complex and huge that the Government is clueless in bringing reasonable solutions to the issues. It looks like that even judiciary has come to the conclusion that delaying and postponing are the best solution! If you dare peep into the side wings you definitely see the nasty hands of the land mafia governing everything that is happening on the stage.
As if to stir the cauldron further, the government of Karnataka has come up with a mega project of issuing B Khata to the owners of sites in unauthorised layouts. But confusion is the lifeline of the project! Encroachment, illegal construction, unauthorised layouts etc are thrown in one basket! Yet the leaders and workers of the political party that has formed the present government are brazenly portraying the project as a 'fix-all' solution and are promising that hence forth there will not be any issues with regard to the registration of properties in Karnataka. The officers are forced to parrot their lines. Can we trust them?
Reality is that the much hyped B Khata will not bring any relief or solution. There is no clarity as to whether the owners of sites in the unauthorised layouts can sell their sites, build houses, get occupation certificates, get electricity connection, transfer the properties to their descendants, avail loans from nationalised banks etc. The lines between 'unauthorised', 'illegal', 'encroached', 'illegal construction' etc continue to be blurred. In fact, this B Khata further weakens the owners' right on their sites.
Pray, what is the rationale behind urgently sewing up this B Khata circus when countless lawsuits are pending in the lower courts, High Court and Apex Court pertaining to these issues? Some credible lips murmur in the corner that the whole drama called B Khata is hatched for the benefit of the land mafia which is calling the shots in Karnataka.
It is disappointing and baffling to see the judiciary and media, which are supposed to alert the gullible citizens, are silent over the development.
It is quite natural that the drowning victims of these frauds and illegalities see a lifejacket in this straw called B Khata. In this backdrop we appeal to the people of Karnataka to reject this B Khata tooth and nail. Don't step on the lair spread on enchanting words. If at all you want a realistic solution to your issue, file lawsuits or writ petitions or impleadments or bring stay orders in the courts depending on the nature of your issues, as we have filed an impleadment in the Supreme Court to the SLP (C) 000956 and 000957/2017 registered on 10-1-2017. Please understand the fact you already know - the government is fleecing and looting the citizens to fill its coffers rendered empty by its senseless financial mismanagement and indiscipline. Forget the ridiculous B Khata and tread some logical and sensible paths to get your legal issue resolved.
