A free eye check-up camp was conducted by Mr. Bhaskar Rao, Founder of Mangalore Store, Jeppu, Mangalore, as part of its Golden Jubilee celebrations (1976–2026). The camp was organized in collaboration with Prasad Netralaya Super Specialty Hospital; Abco Steel International Pvt. Ltd., Udupi, Mangalore, and Bangalore; Dr. P. Dayananda Pai and Satish Pai Charitable Trust (R); Century Groups, Bengaluru; and the District Health and Family Welfare Society (District Blindness Control Society), Mangalore.
The camp was held on Friday, 03-04-2026, at Palemar Garden, Morgan’s Gate, Jeppu, Mangalore. It witnessed an encouraging response from the local community. More than 101 patients were screened, over 50 spectacles were distributed, and more than 10 patients were identified for cataract surgery.
Dr. Krishna Prasad Kudlu, Trustee of Netra Jyothi Charitable Trust, emphasized the importance of regular eye check-ups and early detection of vision-related issues. He also appreciated the commendable service rendered by Mr. Bhaskar Rao. Dr. Kudlu personally conducted patient screenings during the camp and was supported by a team of experienced doctors and medical staff, who carried out comprehensive eye examinations, including vision testing and preliminary diagnosis of common eye conditions.
Free consultations were provided, and patients requiring further treatment were guided toward advanced care. The initiative helped create awareness about maintaining proper eye health among the attendees.
The function was inaugurated in the presence of distinguished guests including Mr. Krishna J. Palemar, Former Minister of the Government of Karnataka; Vidwan Sathya Krishna Bhat; and many others.
