If our feline, feathered and canine friends - and all the other precious lives in our care - could tell us what they’re dreaming of, what do you think they’d ask for? 💭

More space to play. Room to wander and explore. Somewhere to wallow, climb, stretch and snooze. A place where they can feel safe, comfortable and completely at home. 💫

That’s exactly what we’re planning for our new permanent home: a new rescue, hospital and sanctuary designed around the needs of the animals in our care. ❤️‍🩹

This beauty only had a few days of life left, though at the point of rescue one could easily mistake her for a healthy water buffalo. 🐃

She had a fractured leg. A fractured leg rapidly becomes life-threatening because it is often impossible for a buffalo to stand from a lying position with only 3 weight-bearing legs.

A buffalo or cow who can’t stand only has a few days left. Unable to stand, they become bloated, and this will kill them. Once we rescued Gaia we splinted her leg and helped her stand using multiple staff to help lift her off the ground.

And she had an important EXTRA reason she wanted to live. 🥹

When a kind member of the community called us about this little pony, our hearts broke. 🐴

He had been tethered so tightly that a deep wound had formed around his leg. It was exposed, raw and incredibly painful. Quite literally worked to the bone. ❤️‍🩹

But his story didn’t end there. We treated his wound, gave him plenty of nutritious food and, most importantly, gave him the time and care he needed to heal. 💚

Slowly, his body began to recover. And as his strength returned, so did something even more beautiful: his spirit. 💫

It’s hard to see the cruelty that animals like this endure. But every time we are able to rescue, heal and give an animal the life they deserve, we’re reminded that change is possible. 😍

Our donors just turned this forlorn, dying little puppy into a tail-wagging Wonder.

Meet Kismis, whose little face was filled with infection. 🐶

Somehow, though very young, Kismis had gotten separated from his mama and sustained a puncture wound on his face. When infection set in, he couldn’t even eat because he was so sore.

He seemed to park himself at a neighbor’s door where, without help, he was going to die. But that neighbor saw the bleeding bundle of hurt and called us to rescue him.

Thanks to donors, we have an active phone line, ambulances all around Udaipur, staff who know how to handle emergencies, doctors and nurses to diagnose and treat illnesses and injuries, loving hands to feed and comfort.

The result? Meet Kismis now! 🥰

We didn’t know what the next few hours would bring - but we knew this little boy needed us.

When a concerned member of the community called our rescue team about a cow with a serious eye injury, we rushed out to help.

In India, many cows are free to roam the streets, and that often puts them in the path of fast-moving traffic. We can’t know for certain what caused her injury, but a collision with a vehicle is a likely explanation.

We weren’t sure on arrival whether we’d be able to save her eye but we did know we were going to do everything we could.

Throughout her examination and treatment, she was the gentlest of patients. Calm and trusting, she accepted every examination and every treatment with quiet grace.

Thankfully, our veterinary team was able to save both her eye and her sight.

Today, she looks out at the world with two healthy eyes, as beautiful and regal as ever. Those wonderfully outstretched ears are still impossible not to smile at.

You gave this beautiful girl the gift of sight, and we couldn’t be more grateful. We hope her story brings a smile to your face, knowing that you made this second chance possible.

Every examination, every treatment and every moment of care was there because of you.

Our Animal Aid family spans the globe. Every year, supporters travel from around the world to volunteer alongside our team here in Udaipur, giving their time, energy and love to the animals who need it most.

From caring for orphaned babies and walking sanctuary dogs to grooming rescued cows and buffaloes, volunteers become part of our team and part of our family.

And, as our supporters across India already know, Udaipur is a truly wonderful place to visit. With its beautiful lakes, vibrant culture and rich history, it's one of Rajasthan's true gems, making the journey even more worthwhile.

A huge thank you to Gili, who travelled all the way from Israel to spend the past two months volunteering with us. You embraced every challenge, got stuck into every task and brought so much kindness to the animals in our care.

As our Hospital Manager, Nandini oversees every patient in our care, working out where they should stay, what treatment they need and how to give each one the best chance of recovery.

It's a role that changes by the hour, because no two days at our hospital are ever the same.

After years of adapting buildings that were never designed for the number of animals we now care for, Nandini can finally see a future where the hospital works for the animals, instead of the other way around.
