A POINT TO PONDER
Villages have been playing key roles in any developing economy for ages and will continue to do so even if their total transformation into a developed economy takes place. The role of rural sector, whether in a developing or a developed society, can never be under estimated. Application of this general truth to Indian economy is more obvious than to any other for several geographical, historical, cultural and religious factors. Technological developments have begun to show their impact, but India cannot be translated into a developed country until and unless a total transformation of its rural sector is taken place.
Main characteristics of a third world country are still dominating our rural scenario. Poverty, illiteracy, ill health, hunger, malnutrition, population growth, and poor infrastructure support are still our recognized enemies and national concerns. Our falling moral values and the attitude that someone will come to deliver us has only added to the cause of the misery. Any individual or institute, desirous to contribute to the cause of total transformation of India into a developed country will have to address himself to rural development focusing every effort to make rural folk change their attitudes, realize their strength and stand on to their feet.
The evolution of the Shrushti Seva Samiti is but a manifestation of the perpetual realization of the truth of the fact of the fore-going description by some like-minded people and a sincere selfless desire to serve the mankind. And gradually “Transform villages –Translate India into a develop country” derived as our vision statement without any deliberate effort to do so. Now, addressing ourselves to any activity that would aid to translating villages into a developed society is the mission of our institute.
