Many questions arise when people see her…
Is she a sage? Is she a mad woman? What proof is there that she’s a sage? Why doesn’t anyone help her - doesn’t she need to be in an asylum? Why are her clothes stained like that?
Just a reminder - being a sage was never about a pleasant appearance or intellectual words.
Most sages never fit into any box. Most of them looked, at some point, exactly like something the world wanted to fix.
Yogi Ramsuratkumar lived under a tree for years. People called him mad. Some beat him. Now there’s a large ashram in his name, and a whole history around him - and somehow that makes it easy for people to accept him today.
𝗞𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗸𝗸𝗮𝗻𝗽𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗶 𝗠𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗶 𝗦𝘄𝗮𝗺𝗶 - near Palani - carried a large sack everywhere he went and sit in garbage. People called him mad many years before starting worshipping.
𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗶 𝗠𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗮 - originally from Kanyakumari - lived on the streets, surrounded always by dogs she fed, people called her mad.
So many sages have lived here, in forms the mind simply cannot categorize or accept.
Sri Ramana Maharshi recognized sages in dogs, in beggars, in anyone who came near him…
But we are so quick to believe we understand everything we see.
We cannot possibly understand the depth of the state some of these beings are in.
At Arunachala, it’s better to release all our opinions - and simply accept what is happening here. To experience the presence, whatever form it takes.
