September was a month of meaningful connections and continued community engagement at VOICE Trust. 💚

Together, we reached 2,177 people, including children, youth, adults, persons with disabilities and farmers, while also strengthening our connections with NGOs, organisations and government officials.

Every number represents a conversation, a connection and an opportunity to create positive change.

A week filled with learning, service and new experiences unfolded as around 47 agriculture students from Nalanda College of Agriculture, M.R. Palayam, Sanamangalam, came together for a 7-day NSS Special Camp under the theme “Youth for My India.”
With the permission of VOICE Trust Founder Mr. Gregory and under the leadership of Chief Administrator Mrs. Janet Preethi, the students stepped beyond their classrooms and into the community. Guided by the officers and staff of VOICE Trust, they took part in activities that encouraged them to learn, serve and create awareness.
From saying no to drugs and keeping our surroundings clean, to making seed balls, exploring climate-smart farming and home gardens, and spreading awareness on dengue prevention and road safety, each day brought a new lesson. The students also learned about water management in organic farming, the importance of traditional foods and preventive healthcare through a general medical camp.
With awareness programmes, discussions and cultural activities throughout the week, the camp concluded with a message on reducing plastic use and protecting our environment.
More than a 7-day camp, it was an opportunity for young minds to experience community service and understand the responsibility they carry towards society.

Ten days of learning, community engagement and new experiences brought together young students from Mother Teresa Women’s University, Kodaikanal, at the Siruganur campus of VOICE Trust.

Around six first-year Social Work students, three Sociology students and one faculty member stayed at the campus for 10 days, learning about the work of VOICE Trust while conducting a rural awareness camp.

With permission from VOICE Trust Founder Mr. Gregory and under the leadership of Chief Administrator Mrs. Janet Preethi, the students actively participated in community service. Guided by the officers and staff of VOICE Trust, they took part in awareness programmes and volunteer activities that introduced them to different aspects of rural development.

During their stay, they learned about the work of VOICE Trust in the community, natural farming, integrated farming and the process of setting up an integrated farm. They also explored livelihood surveys and understood their importance in identifying the needs and resources of rural communities.

These ten days gave the students an opportunity to step beyond the classroom, learn through experience and discover how knowledge, service and community engagement can come together to create meaningful social work.

For a child, Diwali can live in the smallest things: a new outfit they cannot wait to wear, a favourite sweet they get to enjoy, a gift waiting to be opened, or simply the feeling of knowing that someone thought of them.

Rivers are lifelines for people, wildlife and ecosystems. They provide water, support agriculture and livelihoods, sustain biodiversity and connect communities across landscapes.

Yet our rivers continue to face threats from pollution, waste, unsustainable use and environmental degradation. Protecting rivers therefore means protecting the countless lives and ecosystems that depend on them.

On World Rivers Day, let us renew our commitment to keeping our waterways clean and healthy. Reducing waste, preventing pollution, conserving water and encouraging community participation are all important steps towards healthier rivers.

A river that flows clean is a future that flows strong.
