Dear Friends, Well-Wishers & Sponsors of DKSHA,

We are pleased to inform you that after much hard work, we have safely reintegrated all the children in our care back into their family homes. Our campus is much quieter now without the laughter and chatter of the children, but our hearts are happy because they are being cared for by their loved ones.
DKSHA continues to support these children in their education as well offering household economy and health assistance to the families. They have left the campus but DKSHA is never far away, with frequent checks, ensuring their wellbeing.

Our campus is now empty (there are no children living at the campus) and so we have taken the decision to close the Cornerstone Children’s Home, to enable us to focus on other ways to help support them.

We cannot accept special meals or essentials for the children any longer, as they are no longer with us.

We recently had the pleasure of a team visit from our friends and colleagues at Miracle Foundation and as is customary, they were received with a traditional Tamil welcome. Whilst here, they spent time visiting the children and families living village communities who are under our Family -Based Alternative Care.

Volunteering isn't just about working, it's an exchange of cultures. Here our Italian volunteers are teaching us to make pizza, with homemade tomato passata. Mozzarella was swapped in favour of paneer and the dough was pan-fried, so it wasn't strictly traditional, however that didn't matter because it was tasty, the company was good and the room was full of love and happiness.

Most of our time is spent building confidence in people and helping them to build their lives but currently we are in midst of building walls - security walls - around our grounds. A few more bricks and we should be done 😊

Whilst here, our volunteers helped us plant coconut trees which will not only provide edible fruits within 5 years, but also oil, fibre and building materials. We are very excited about these new trees as DKSHA will use the income generated from these crops to continue supporting people in need and providing care for children.

DKSHA recently welcomed the Bliss family from the UK for a few weeks volunteering. As is custom, we gave them the traditional Tamil welcome, complete with the Aarti ritual, fresh flower garlands and kunkumam pottu.

On 5th November, 2020,

Our old Student from N.Poolampatty sponsored special breakfast for all children and staff DKSHA Cornerstone Orphanage

Mr. Albert Justin and Mrs. Ranjitha visited Cornerstone Orphanage on 5th November 2020 and served special breakfast to all children and staff on the occasion of their boy child Jonathan’s 1st birthday.

After sharing the prayer and singing birthday wish song for the celebrant, all had idly, dosa, sambar, chatni, kesari and chocolate.

DKSHA Cornerstone Family thank our student Mr.Albert and his loving family for supporting the children and staff with a special breakfast.

On 1 st November, 2020,
Local sponsor from Elangakurichy had sponsored, special Lunch for all children and staff DKSHA Cornerstone Orphanage

Mr. Julious Lawrance and Mrs. Jerman Aruljothi visited Cornerstone Orphanage on 1st November2020 and served special lunch to all children and staff on the occasion of their boy child J. Francis Snowin’s 7th Birthday.

After sharing a prayer and singing birthday wish song for the celebrant, all had chicken biriyani, thalcha, raitha, along with chips and banana.

DKSHA Cornerstone Family thank this loving family for supporting the children and staff with a special Lunch.
