Edgar Foundation has set its vision to pioneer a radical transformation at root levels

India has a population of 1.4 billion as per recent population statistics by the world bank (2022). Financial Literacy in India, however, is an unknown concept for many, and only 27% of the Population knows how to handle money as per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Research shows almost 73% lack knowledge about finance and makes uninformed choices. Based on a recent world bank report -The global Findex Database 2021, indicates half of the world’s unbanked adults live in 7 economies, of which India holds a major share of 17%. In order to bridge the gap to create a financially healthy and debt-free society. Edgar Foundation has set its vision to pioneer a radical transformation at root levels for societal change. The idea for this foundation was started as part of Amartya Sen’s Capability approach, which later on derives the essence of ‘Hope’ as a capability inspired by Abhijit Banerjee.

In line with the white paper 2026 published by the Tamil Nadu Department of Finance.

Edgar foundation came up with a fiscal road map for recovery, restoration, and transformation of Tamil Nadu.

Stage 1: Stoping the bleeding and consolidate economy.

Stage 2:Consolidate and grow the economic base , build energy independence by harnessing renewable sources, and create revenue.

Stage 3: Invest and build inter-generational assets for a developed and a prosperous Tamil Nadu.

On 20 April 2026, a major environmental restoration and urban greening project took place by Edgar Foundation as a part of Good Deeds Day with the help of Bishop Heber College, Trichy City Corporation, the Tamil Nadu Forest Department, and Young Indians Climate Change (Yi).

Near 300 volunteers registered for the event and 500+ sapling were planted.

Edgar Foundation was honored to be part of the Awareness Programme on Environmental Sustainability organized by the Youth Red Cross at Bishop Heber College, Trichy on 23rd February 2026.

Chief Guest Address during Session I on “Sustainable Cities – South Korea Perspective.” The session focused on practical urban sustainability models, citizen participation, green infrastructure, and lessons that can be contextualized for Indian cities.

At Edgar Foundation, we believe sustainability is not a choice—it is a responsibility. Platforms like these strengthen youth leadership and accelerate grassroots environmental action.

Edgar Foundation successfully conducted an Awareness Programme on Financial Literacy & Climate Action at Bishop Heber College (Autonomous), Tiruchirappall on 20 January 2026 empowering students with practical financial insights and a strong sense of climate responsibility. Around 150 students participated in this event.

Grateful to the Youth Red Cross & Electoral Literacy Club, with support from Rotary Club of Jamabukeshwaram, and SBI, for inspiring youth to become informed, responsible changemakers.

The future belongs to informed, responsible, and action-oriented youth. It was inspiring to witness young minds come together at the Awareness Programme on Financial Literacy & Climate Action held at Bishop Heber College (Autonomous), Tiruchirappalli.

Today’s youth are not just learners — they are change makers. Understanding financial literacy empowers them to make smart economic decisions, while climate awareness equips them to protect the planet they will inherit.
