INTRODUCTION
In high aspiration to bring light to lives, over shadowed by disability, Focus Forth - India - Sahajeevan emerged out in 1999. Rendering training along with ample care to bring them and their families up with the contemporary social standards was its prime concern.
9th August 2000 marked the formal beginning of Sahajeevan, though the services were endow with to the Mentally Handica
pped Children and their families in the outskirts of Thiruvananthapuram District even earlier. Our activities are being supported only by the benevolence of kind-hearted well-wishers. Still this organisation could gain the cheer of successfully conducting The District Level Special Olympic Meet and The State Level Special Olympic Meet for the Mentally Handicapped in 2000 and 2001 respectively. In addition, as the recognition of our activities, our Founder President Shri Brahma Nayakam Mahadevan bagged the prestigious National Youth Award in 2000 instituted by The Ministry of HRD, Govt. This Centre, which started its working in a humble way, now avails the service of Special Educators, Teaching Assistants, Clinical Psychologist, Physiotherapists, Speech Therapists, Vocational Trainers, Yoga Trainer and Dance/Music Teachers Ayahs and Administration staffs, sufficiently to satisfy the requirement of holistic development of our children. Even in the midst of these accomplishments though trivial, we still face the impediment of lack of material, proper infrastructure and money resources. This centre has been shifted five times to different rented buildings during the past thirteen years causing grave discomfort to our children as well as incurring huge financial commitments for the organization. November 1998 was marked by the beginning of our activities for the challenged citizens to lead and enjoy their life as any normal person. Our mission lies in the activities to equip the economically, socially and psychologically marginalised disabled person to survive in the society, contribute to the society and benefit from the society. And our vision is to extend this service to each and every fellow being in our society. In 2004 the society has been reorganised with the participation of parents, special educators, caregivers and well wishers, and renewed the registration [Reg.no.T 2123/04] also. Now the organisation is managed by the counsel comprised of the above representatives. In the year 2012 November 19, The Government of Kerala has recognised Sahajeevan as a registered institution working in the field of special education for the Mentally Challenged wide Order No: 711/2012. The persons challenged by any type or level of intellectual capacity are being admitted to the school. Persons suffering from associated challenges like Speech, Hearing, Visual, behaviour and Physical are also given admission. Conceiving the importance of training, no age limit is set-off for admission. Training Programmes

Special Training is given for developing the habit of performing the basic day to day living skills and self help skills like brushing of teeth, bathing, washing of clothes, dressing, personal hygiene etc. Physical Training & Yoga Practice
The Physical Training & Yoga practice are meant to refresh the mind and body. Through these classes they are able to gain Physical Mobility, Concentration and Discipline. Academic Training

Training cm Production is successfully running in innovative vocational Fields like making of Dolls, Key Chains, Hair Band, Fancy Flowers, Art Works on Earthen Pots etc… along with conventional areas in the field of Rehabilitation of the Disabled like manufacturing of Paper Covers, Chalks, Candles etc…
Agro-Horti Therapy
Cultivation of vegetables like Bitter Guard, Leafy Vegetables, Chilli, Pumpkin, Banana and Beans etc… along with Plantain is being practised in the school premises itself. Multi-Disciplinary Team
Sahajeevan ensure Free Medical Services of Specialists in ENT, Paediatrics, Dental, Neurology and likewise Medical fields for Students regularly. In addition the Counselling for Parents, Speech Therapy and Physiotherapy are also available. Appraisal
Regular Appraisal through Feedback’s is also being made with Training. The improvement of the students is regularly monitored and alternations are implemented in the needed areas, from time to time.
