Lourdes Matha Care functioning on 11th February 2008 as jubilee Memorial on the occasion of the 150th Anniversary of the day Virgin Mary first appeared at Lourdes. The needs of our modern society have placed great strains on the philanthropic organisations. It is better to stop morning with the problems but to act for solutions. We are all God’s children governed by Him, so it is our duty to help
the needy people in whatever way we can. We seek to understand the situation of the poor and work alongside and help them in all their needs.
1. Free noon meal & supper for poor patients:
This programme is intended for the poor and helpless patients and by-standers of Medical College Hospital, Sree Chithra Medical Centre, Sree Avittom Tirunal Hospital, Regional Cancer Centre and Pulayanarkotta TB Hospital.
2. Helping Cancer patients:
Poor patients of Regional Cancer Centre are given financial assistance for purchasing medicine as per doctor’s prescription. Financial help is also available for chemotherapy and other treatments.
3. Free blood donation:
Assistance is provided to make blood available for surgical operations and other emergencies. Lourdes Matha Care is preparing a list of blood donors for the purpose.
4. Collecting medicines:
Medicine purchased as per doctor’s prescription which are not used, are collected in the medicine bank and distributed to the poor and needy patients.
5. Accommodation for the poor:
Accommodation is provided free of cost under the programme for poor patients and by- standers.
6. Hospital Guidance:
Those who come from faraway places for treatment in various hospitals in the capital city are given necessary guidance.
7. Free ambulance services:
Ambulance facility is arranged on emergencies for patients coming from faraway places.
8. Cloth Bank:
Cloths that can be used is collected and distributed among the poor.
9. AIDS Cell:
Patients suffering from AIDS are given consolation, treatment assistance and other amenities for a better life. Free three times meal is provided to HIV affected patients of Medical College Hospital.
10. Visit to the mentally ill patients:
Patients who are mentally ill and are under treatment in mental hospitals are helped at the hospitals.
11. Helping the mentally challenged:
Mentally re****ed children are provided with food, clothes, and education.
12. Aid to prisoner’s children:
Families of prisoners are assisted to bring up their children. Assistance is extended to impart them with proper education and rehabilitate them.
13. Assistance to families in coastal and rural area:
Poor families of Valiathura coastal areas and Amburi – Rajagiri rural areas are given 10 kg rice and other necessary provisions every month.
14. Protection for neglected:
Due recognition and proper assistance are given to bring to normal life those released from prison and mental hospital.
15. Assistance for the homeless:
Financial aid is extended to build houses for the homeless.
16. Educational help:
Under this programme brilliant students belonging to poor families are provided with books, uniforms etc.
17. Marriage Aid Fund:
Girls from poor families are given financial assistance for their marriage.
18. Employment bureau:
Job seekers are given proper guidance and assistance for employment based on their qualification.
19. People friendly Projects:
Financial help is provided to 50 poor families selected through people friendly project belonging to the Medical College Police Circle.
20. Counseling for the Youth:
Youngsters who come to the capital city often face unprecedented events and difficulties. In order to save them from the traps of the city life they are given proper guidance and counseling.
