Snehita Women's Health Foundation Breast cancer early detection is our main service | CBE camps, awareness & survivor support | Director: Dr. Regi Jose, Prof Community. med.

SGMC | Advisor & guide: Dr. Paul Augustine, Former Head Surgical Oncology RCC, Tvm | Early detection saves lives SNEHITA WOMEN’S HEALTH FOUNDATION is a charitable trust which focuses on health issues of women. The foundation has a well maintained clinic offering free consultation and referral services for women, located near Government Medical College Trivandrum. It started functioning on the 25th

of December 2015. We believe that the clinic is unique in the sense that it caters to the innermost need of every woman; to have a pleasant lady doctor who patiently listens to your problems in privacy and guides you properly.Any lady can take an appointment over a phone call. All ladies attending the clinic would be given enough time to discuss their problems and would have a physical examination including clinical breast examination. Those ladies who need further examination or investigations would be guided to experts who would do the needful. Cancer education and motivating women to undergo regular screening is the main aim of SNEHITA. A locally validated breast cancer risk assessment tool is also made available for risk assessment at SNEHITA. Training of community volunteers for early detection of cancer is the other major aim of SNEHITA. SNEHITA also offers training in cancer screening and research methodology to Post graduate Medical Students. SNEHITA has so far assembled a cohort of 10242 ladies after conducting baseline Clinical Breast examination and Mammograms wherever necessary. These ladies are kept under regular follow up at SNEHITA Clinic.

“Snehita”, as the name implies, would be a friend to all women. The logo Pink Tulip is a symbol of caring, attachment and good wishes. Pink flowers express happiness and confidence.

🌷 World Kidney Cancer Day | June 19, 2026 🌷
Kidney cancer rarely announces itself. That's what makes it dangerous.

Early symptoms are rare or not easily noticeable, and many cases are discovered only by chance during tests done for other health issues. By the time symptoms appear, the disease can already be advanced.

Know your risk factors:
⚠️ Smoking
⚠️ Obesity or uncontrolled hypertension
⚠️ Long-term painkiller use
⚠️ Family history of kidney cancer
⚠️ Chronic kidney disease or long-term dialysis
This year's World Kidney Cancer Day theme — Kidney Cancer and Emotional Wellbeing — resonates deeply with us at Snehita. A cancer diagnosis doesn't just affect the body. Research shows fear of recurrence, anxiety, and emotional distress can persist long after treatment ends — often unspoken, often unaddressed.

Our SHARE program exists for exactly this reason — to ensure that no woman faces a diagnosis in silence, and no survivor carries the emotional weight alone. Real survivors, real conversations, real hope.
Get your routine health checks done. And if the road feels heavy, reach out.

🌷National Cancer Survivors Day | June 7, 2026🌷

Today, we celebrate YOU.
Every woman who has heard the words "you have cancer" — and kept going — is a survivor. From the moment of diagnosis, through treatment, through the hard days and the hopeful ones, you are living proof that life goes on.
At Snehita, we know that surviving cancer is only half the journey. The other half is living well — with the right follow-up care, emotional support, and a community that truly understands.

That's exactly why we built SHARE — Sharing Hope And Reaching Everyone. Our SHARE network brings cancer survivors and caregivers together to extend an empathetic lifeline to newly diagnosed patients, walking alongside them from the first moment of fear to confident, resilient survivorship. Because no one should walk this road alone.
If you or someone you love has faced cancer — you belong here.

🌷Colore**al cancer : What Everyone should Know🌷
It is among the top three cancers worldwide and a leading cause of cancer deaths and incidence is rising in younger adults. It is often preventable and curable when found early — get screened (start around age 45 for average risk), watch for warning signs like blood in stool or persistent bowel changes, and adopt simple lifestyle modifications to lower your risk.
Colore**al cancer starts in the colon or re**um and usually begins as small growths called polyp that can turn cancerous over 10-15 years. So finding out these polyps and removing them can prevent the cancer

🌷Key risk factors (what increases risk)🌷
•Age (risk rises after 50, but younger-onset cases are increasing; 20% occur in < 50 yrs).
•Family history or inherited syndromes (Lynch syndrome, FAP).
•Lifestyle: high intake of processed/red meat; low fruit/vegetable fibre; physical inactivity; obesity; smoking; heavy alcohol.

🌷Symptoms not to be ignored🌷
•Blood in stool or re**al bleeding; persistent change in bowel habits (diarrhoea or constipation); abdominal pain, unexplained weight loss, persistent fatigue, iron-deficiency anaemia.
Screening — the single most important step
•Many early cancers have no symptoms, hence screening matters.
•Start screening at age 45 for average risk (earlier if you have family history or symptoms). Options include yearly stool-based tests (FIT/gFOBT), 5 yearly sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy once in 10 years.
•Persons with higher risk should be referred for earlier and more intensive surveillance.
Prevention — practical steps everyone can take
•Eat more fruits, vegetables, whole grains
•Reduce red meat
•Avoid processed meat.
•Be physically active (aim for 30 mts of daily exercise).
•Avoid to***co; limit alcohol; maintain healthy weight.
Treatment overview
•Early-stage disease: surgery to remove the tumour (often curative).
•Advanced disease: combinations of Radiotherapy, Chemotherapy, Surgery.
Red flags and immediate actions
•See a doctor promptly for any persistent re**al bleeding, change in bowel habits lasting more than 2–4 weeks, unexplained weight loss, or new iron-deficiency anaemia.

🌷What you can do now (Practical checklist)🌷
1. If you are ≥45 and asymptomatic — schedule screening (ask about FIT or colonoscopy).
2. If you have symptoms or family history — see a clinician now for referral.

Act now! Because your health matters, YOU matter.

🌷A Decade of Friendship. A Day to Celebrate Technology. One Beautiful Connection.🌷
Ten years ago, Snehita began with a simple promise—to be a true friend to every woman navigating her health journey.
As we marked our 10th anniversary on National Technology Day (May 11), we couldn't help but smile at how beautifully these two come together.

What began as groundbreaking research by Dr. Paul Augustine and Dr. Regi Jose—the Augustine Jose (AJ) Model, later published in scientific journals as Snehita Brisk Model, India's own breast cancer risk calculator designed specifically for our women—is in your hands. It was renamed ‘Snehita BRISK tool’, was built pro bono with love by our early committee members as a software tool and was part of Aroggyam Aanandam's phase one. It is available on our website— https://snehita.in. Free. Accessible. Ready to serve 24/7

On this Technology Day, we celebrate innovation that serves, not just impresses. So here's our ask—use technology the Snehita way:
✅ Take 5 minutes. Visit snehita.in. Check your breast cancer risk with the BRISK tool. It's free.
✅ Share this post. Your one click might be someone's early detection story.
✅ Overdue for a check-up? Don't let another day pass. Book your appointment with us using the appointment option in the website or call us 08590137400.
✅ Want to be part of this journey? Join our 500+ Snehitas spreading hope, one conversation at a time.

Technology connects us. But it's you—sharing, caring, acting—who saves lives.
Here's to the next decade of friendship. Here's to every woman who says yes to her health today.

Every woman deserves a true friend. Especially when it comes to her health.

Call now to connect with business.

🌷May 8- Ovarian Cancer Awareness Day 💚

May 8th marks World Ovarian Cancer Day. It's a day to come together, learn, and remind each other that paying attention to our bodies isn't being dramatic — it's being wise. Let's talk about what every woman should know.

While there's no guaranteed way to prevent ovarian cancer, research shows certain factors may help lower your risk:
🌷 Know your family history — If close relatives have had ovarian, breast, or colore**al cancer.
🌷 Breastfeeding — Pregnancy and breastfeeding are associated with lower ovarian cancer risk
🌷 Maintain a healthy weight — Staying at a healthy weight supports overall health
🌷 Stay active — Regular physical activity has many protective benefits
🌷 Nourish your body — A diet rich in vegetables, fruits, and whole grains helps support your body's natural defences

Ovarian cancer can be challenging to detect early because its symptoms often feel like everyday discomforts — bloating, feeling full after small meals, or pelvic unease. These are things many of us experience and overlook.
If you notice any of these symptoms lasting more than 2–3 weeks, it's worth checking in with your doctor.

Unlike cervical cancer, there's no routine screening test for ovarian cancer — which is why paying attention to changes in your body is important.
Your health matters. When in doubt, reach out to your doctor.
