The Alumni Association of Kendriya Vidyalaya SAP along with the staff and students of the Vidyalaya are proud to announce the virtual meet honouring our alumna Ms. Safna Nazarudeen All India 45th rank holder of the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2019, on 29th August 2020, Saturday at 4 pm followed by an interactive session with the students of the Vidyalaya.

‘When you want something with all your heart, the Universe itself conspires in helping you to achieve it.’ This becomes more than true in the case of Safna Nazarudeen, the 23 year old girl from Trivandrum who secured the All India 45th rank and the 3rd rank from Kerala in the UPSC examination 2019 on her first attempt.

Safna studied in Kendriya Vidyalaya, SAP till 10th standard, and subsequently in Kendriya Vidyalaya, Pangode. She had passed out as the topper in BA Economics from Mar Ivanios College, Trivandrum.

Safna defied the normal trend of running behind the science stream by opting for Humanities after 10th. She knew her goals and how to reach them. She had been constantly jabbed for not sticking to the road most travelled by. But that did not deter her from her path.

When the world told her at every turn of her life that she was making the wrong choices, she smiled. To the ones who doubted her, to the ones who silently smirked at her, to the ones who told her she should give up, her humble smile has always been her answer.

She joined UPSC coaching classes and focused all her attention into cracking the Civil Services. She studied day and night to reach a dream that she and her father had shared since she was a small kid. She took long bus rides to commute between her home and her coaching centre every day and reached back home late into the night.

Her perseverance, sleepless nights and unwavering determination have finally paid off. Her victory is an answer to all those people who questioned her abilities and her family’s unconditional support in everything that she did.

Congratulations Safna, on defying all odds and becoming an inspiration to everyone.

As the first step towards the formation of official Alumni Association, the first two batches met at the Vidyalaya today, to form an ad-hoc committee for the alumni that will work towards the goal of properly setting up the association. The meeting was presided by Smt. Anitha Kumari, PGT English, Principal-incharge.
